  1. High School and Beyond Plan… Apprenticeship or Technical School 2 or 4-year College Employment or Gap Year Military Where will your journey take you after graduation?

  2. On the downhill slide to…? What, then, can I become? Career options based on “Who Am I?”…. How do I become that? Education/Training needed for your career(s) of interest. Who Am I? Skills, Interests, Values, Learning Style & Lifestyle Preference

  3. How do I decide what to do next…??? • Confirm the education/training needed for any possible majors/degrees and/or career paths you plan to pursue. • Match your goal(s) with opportunities at colleges to which you’ve been accepted, or to community/technical colleges you can still apply to, OR other options you can pursue… • Create a list of any questions you still have about the colleges or other options you’re considering. • Talk to staff at places of interest, comb through websites, and/or connect with current students (OHS alum!?!) via social media. • Compare colleges or other options you can enroll in after graduation and decide which one is the best fit. • Which college/option best matches your list of “must haves”? • Can you imagine yourself “there” successful and happy? • The College Board website has a great school comparison option, as does Career Cruising.

  4. How do I pay for my education/training…? 2 or 4-year College Bound…Is your FAFSAdone??? Military? Compare your Financial Aid Awards: https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/pay-for-college/financial-aid-awards Go to www.TheWashBoard.org to create your profile ASAP!!! Scholarships Are you checking the OHS website or senior notes for scholarships?

  5. I’m Leaving Home…. What do I do Next??? • Decide Where to Live: • Dorm (housing deposit due this Spring) • Coed/Same-sex, Special Theme, Smoke free, Room style, Dining Hall • Fraternity/Sorority (won’t know until fall after rush, so get a backup now) • Apartment (go online for local listings!) • With other family • Find a Suite/Roommate(s)? • Someone from OHS? • Ask college who’s been assigned once dorm is selected • On-line want ads in community or on college’s website • Is a car allowed (on campus for Freshmen) or needed (city life)? • Go online to find out. Look at costs for parking a vehicle! • Choose a meal plan (dorm dwellers only) • Check out website for options provided by college • https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/get-in/making-decision

  6. College Bound? Some things to do…. • Respond to the college you’ve decided to attend. • Make sure to send in the following items by the deadline: • Your acceptance letter • A tuition deposit • A separate acceptance letter for financial aid, if required • Any other required items (ie. housing deposit, etc.) • Respond to the colleges whose offers you're declining.
