  2. ASSIGNMENT: • Create an imitation (faux) stain glass window. • Suggested images: • Flower • Sun symbol • Bird • Fish • Animal • object

  3. GRADING: • IMAGE • CRAFTSMANSHIP • COLOR

  4. Planning Steps: • Plan image on newsprint • On tracing paper, draw a frame around the edge of the paper. • Draw your image large in the center. • Draw connecting bridges from the image to the frame. • Draw details - remember to connect with bridges. • Use Xacto knife to cut out areas

  5. CAUTION: • CUT ON A PADDED SURFACE SUCH AS A MAGAZINE… Not on the table! • Hold the knife as you would a pencil. • Don’t cut with the point, but use more of the “blade”. • Pull the knife in the direction you want to cut - don’t push. • Turning the paper is easier than turning the knife

  6. Construction Steps: • Fold black paper in half. • Use only the front cover for all work. Keep the inside Clean. • Use tracing paper template to draw image onto front of black paper • Use Xacto knife to cut out areas. Hold knife on a slant and cut through both layers of black paper. • CUT ON A PADDED SURFACE… Not on the table!

  7. Tissue Paper “Faux Glass” Steps: • Trace a negative, cut out area onto tissue paper. • Cut traced area from tissue paper 1/4 inch larger. • Apply glue to edge of area on black paper. • Attach tissue paper. • One area of “faux glass” is completed.

  8. Finishing Steps: • Fill all negative areas with “glass” • Turn the folded black paper inside out • Apply glue to all black areas. • Tissue paper will be “sandwiched” between the two sheets of black paper.
