  1. ArtAqua Water and Ecology

  2. We find ourselves in times of immense challenges for sustainable development. Natural resource depletion and adverse impacts of environmental degradation, drought, freshwater scarcity and loss of biodiversity. Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time and its adverse impact undermine the ability of countries to achieve sustainable development. Why We Care Sea level rise, ocean acidification and other climate change impacts the world. The survival of many societies, and of the biological support systems of our planet, are at risk. 2

  3. Vision The ArtAqua Vision Water is one of the most fascinating elements on our planet. Three-quarters of the earth is covered with it. Water is the source of our life. We are born into it and all our life depends on it. We humans consist of approximately 75% water – that, makes water the most important component in our body. It is scientifically proven that our health and life quite literally depend on the quality of our drinking water. We are all responsible to look after our resources and ArtAqua acknowledges its share of responsibility for the quality of our water. Our vision is to develop solutions to ensure a sustainable balance between consumption and the environment… 3

  4. ArtAqua Project Focus Desalination Water Quality Sustainable Development Our desalination products employs advanced technology that has been developed using patented materials for the purification of water contaminated as a result of nuclear disasters. Research and development with international parties has resulted in a solution that is both superior in its function, but also ecologically friendly. Our purification technology is the only one proven to filter even radionuclides such as Caesium 137 by 99.2% bringing down contamination to safe human consumption level. Due to the minerals we use, the water is safe and beneficial as our membrane block off harmful molecules. Viruses cannot penetrate our filtration systems. ArtAqua is a proud member of the United Nations Global Compact initiative. Working closely with countries that are in need to form public private partnerships to promote wealth for marginalized groups. Through the UNGC initiatives, ArtAqua aligns itself with criteria outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals.

  5. Desalination Most desalination technologies in use today produce the same by-product concentrate or brine. The amount varies depending on the source of the water being desalinated. Seawater desalination plants produce more brine – almost 50 percent of the feed water. This is less in brackish water desalination plants where the brine constitutes between 15 percent and 30 percent of the feed. Increasing regulatory pressure, growing environmental awareness, more and larger membrane desalination plant are driving the need for better brine minimization – one of the greatest challenges currently facing the water treatment sector. ArtAqua Desalination technology is innovative and progressive, as it is the only one that manages a 98% brine minimization process through thermal evaporation, followed by thermal crystallization. 6. Our Technologies • No Chemicals No Chlorine or other chemicals is needed to keep water fresh and safe for 180 days and longer. • Patented Technology Patented “SKOV” material is designed to treat heavy arsenic as well as nitrates in water at a very competitive cost. • We Cater for All Filtration/purification plants of various sizes are possible – from household size to major industry-sized plants. • No brine by-product Desalination of Sea Water is less energy intensive and our mineral makes it 50% more effective. Making this technology eco-friendly with virtually no brine by-product released back into the environment. • Artesian Sources Our unique technology is most effectively used in the purification of artesian (underground) water sources. • Healthy Minerals that are added in the filtration process turns the water into a health supplement.

  7. Future market of water treatment • Stricter limits and regulations for disposal of waste water leads to an increasing demand for sustainable solutions • Constantly rising costs for water treatment • Cost drivers for water treatment are the increasing complexity of the waste water and the environmental conditions • ArtAqua is the problem solver in a rapidly growing market • ArtAqua offers a revolutionary, low-complexity system, that is universally applicable, modular scalable and most economical

  8. Problem fields of the available technologies / state of the art • Mechanical processes (rakes, settling tanks, etc.) are slow and requires a lot of space • Chemical processes (neutralization, flotation, etc.) pollute the environment and have high operating costs • Biological processes (microbes, organic substances, etc.) are very slow and have limited scalability • Filtration (nano-, ultra, reverse osmosis, etc.) are effective but expensive in maintenance and problematic in terms of hygiene and water quality • Thermal processes (evaporation, distillation, etc.) have a high water quality but have extremely high operating costs

  9. Our solution The newest generation of water treatment • Without the use of mechanical separators like filters or membranes • Without additives • For universal use • With maximum concentration ratio • For crystal clear pure water • Scalable to any daily capacity • With minimal footprint

  10. evaporator air + Functional description evp . water condenser • Wastewater provides cooling energy for the condenser while absorbing heat • Further the wastewater heats up and flows into the evaporator • A part of the water evaporates; dirt particles concentrate up; the remaining part of the wastewater cools down as an effect of the evaporation • Air flows through the evaporator and saturates with the evaporated water • After the evaporator the air flows into the condenser and cooled down. The water condenses and precipitates as pure water • The energy for heating and cooling is kept in the system and is permanently transferred between the evaporator and the condenser air pure water concentrate wastewater

  11. Combined Technologies for Water and Energy Autonomy: • Because scarce resources and emission limits require resource-friendly production processes. • Large volumes of exhaust air contaminated with volatile organic compounds (VOC) are generated during production in many industries, such as the printing industry or paint shops. These quantities of VOC in exhaust air must be purified to comply with national and international emissions limits. These separated VOC can then be used as fuel for turbines.

  12. Combined Technologies for Water and Energy Autonomy: • Our energy-efficient micro gas turbine technology ensures optimum utilisation of raw materials – using a combination of innovative exhaust air purification, optional intermediate storage and the individual supply of the fuel obtained for generating electricity. • The idea behind our solution: concentrated, solvent-laden volumes of exhaust area can also be stored and used for a micro gas turbine as an alternative to the classic oxidation process because the gas mixture is ideal as fuel. In addition, the electricity and heat generated pave the way for virtually energy neutral and energy-saving production processes.

  13. Our advantages: • Reduction of investment costs based on lower plant complexity and simplified processes • Reduction of wastewater costs by returning treated water into the production cycle • Reduction of operating costs through a low-maintenance design and avoidance of disposable consumables • Improvement of energy processes by using residual heat and closure of energy cycles • Optimization of the carbon-footprint through direct heat recovery and prevention of fossil fuels
