  2. SCREWDRIVER Is a tool used for the insertion and tightening of screws. Flat Tip A screwdriver with a flat wedge-shaped tip that fits into a slot in the head of a screw Phillips Tip A screwdriver having a cross-shaped tip rather than the rectangular tip of a standard flat-blade screwdriver, (flat-blade) screwdriver.

  3. HAMMER is a tool meant to deliver an impact to an object Wooden Mallet A with a large cylindrical head made of wood, used chiefly to drive a chisel or wedge, and to strike a surface without damaging it. Claw Hammer A hammer with one end of the head forked and curved like a claw, used for pulling nails.

  4. HAMMER is a tool meant to deliver an impact to an object Sledge Hammer A hammer that consists of a large, heavy, broad and flat block of metal (the head) attached to a handle typically 0.5 meter to 1 meter long. The sledgehammer's design is meant to allow it to be swung powerfully, and to distribute force over a wide area upon impact. Ball-Peen Hammer A hammer with one end of the head rounded and the other end flat. This hammer is a type of peening hammer used in metalworking.

  5. HAMMER is a tool meant to deliver an impact to an object Rubber Mallet A hammer with a barrel-shaped head made of rubber, used when a softer blow is called for then that delivered by a metal hammer. Also used for striking a surface without causing damage. Tack Hammer A light weight hammer used to drive tacks or small nails. Also sometimes called an upholstery hammer.

  6. SAW Is a tool that uses a hard blade or wire with an abrasive edge to cut through material. Band Saw The Band Saw is a general purpose saw used in the shop. It is used to make curved, beveled, straight cuts in various types of material like: wood, metal, plastic, etc. It has a continuous blade shaped like a belt. Hand Saw A hand-held saw for cutting wood having a handle at one end; operated manually.

  7. SAW Is a tool that uses a hard blade or wire with an abrasive edge to cut through material. Coping Saw A light narrow-bladed saw with fine teeth, held in a U-shaped tension frame; used for cutting intricate external shapes in interior cutouts in woodworking or carpentry. Back Saw or Mitre Saw A hand saw which has a stiffening rib on the edge opposite the cutting edge, allowing for better control and more precise cutting than with other types of saws.

  8. SAW Is a tool that uses a hard blade or wire with an abrasive edge to cut through material. Hacksaw A fine-tooth saw with a blade under tension in a frame, used for cutting materials such as metal Flush Cut Saw A double edged tool, similar to a veneer saw, that is designed for trimming the ends of dowels, tenons, and other protusions flush with a surface. Keyhole Saw A long, narrow saw used for cutting small, often awkward features in various building materials.

  9. SquaresA tool used in dimensional applications. Try Square A square whose legs are fixed at 90°; serves as a guide for marking lines at right angles to an edge or surface, as a scale for laying out work, and as a tool for testing the straightness and/or squareness of edges, faces, etc. Steel Square A hand tool consisting of two straight arms at right angles; used to construct angles. Also sometimes called framing or carpenter’s square.

  10. SquaresA tool used in dimensional applications. Combination Square An adjustable carpenter’s tool consisting of a steel rule which slides through an adjustable head; may be used as a try square, miter square, level, marking gauge, plumb, and straightedge. Speed Square A three-sided, triangular shaped measuring tool, that can be used to draw straight lines on lumber to be cut, or to lay out angles for roofs, stairways, decks and other general construction.

  11. Measurement ToolsThe act of measuring or the process of being measured. Tape Measure A Flexible ruler calibrated in inches. Steel Ruler A simple measuring instrument consisting of a long, thin metal strip calibrated in inches Folding Ruler A rule composed of light strips of wood joined by rivets so as to be foldable, all the opening and closing parts being inparallel planes.

  12. Chisela metal tool with a sharpened edge at one end used to chip, carve, or cut into a solid material such as wood, stone, or metal Wood Chisel A tool with a flat steel blade, with a cutting edge. Cold Chisel A chisel with a cutting edge formed of tempered steel; used for cutting metal which has not been softened by heating.

  13. SanderIs a machine used to smooth wood or metal. Belt Sander A machine used to sand down wood and other materials for finishing purposes. They can be stationary or portable. Oscillating spindle sander A sander mounted on a spindle that both rotates and oscillates in and out or up and down along the axis of the spindle. Good for sanding curves and contours that would be difficult with hand or orbital sanding. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/68/Belt_sander_bosch.jpg/757px-Belt_sander_bosch.jpg

  14. SanderIs a machine used to smooth wood or metal. Drum sander A sander that uses a rotating sanding drum. Disc Sander http://www.mikestools.com/images/products/delta-31-120.jpg

  15. DrillingPlacing a hole in a piece of material Types of drill bits Twist Drill The most common type of bit used to drill holes. Can be used to drill in various types of material like: wood, metal, plastic, etc. Brad Point Drill Similar to twist drill bits but have a sharpened point that makes it easier to start in wood. Provides cleaner holes than a spade bit. Can be used only to drill holes in soft material like: wood and plastic. Auger Bits Designed to bore deep clean holes in wood. The drilling end has a screw head so that the bit can self feed. Typically used in brace as the chuck end is square for secure attachment with the brace. Can be used only to drill holes in soft material like: wood and plastic

  16. DrillingPlacing a hole in a piece of material Spade Bit Has a sharpened point and used for drilling large diameter holes in soft material like: wood and plastic. Forstner Drill Bit used to a create a flat bottomed holes. Can be used in soft material only like: wood and plastic. Hole Saw Used to drill holes up to 6” in diameter. It has a center bit for guiding the cutting edge. Can be used to drill in various types of material like: wood, metal and plastic.

  17. DrillingPlacing a hole in a piece of material Drill Press Machine consisting of a stand, a holder for a drill bit and a motor to turn that bit, which is used to bore holes in precise locations at precise angles Types of drilling devices A portable drill held and operated by hand

  18. DrillingPlacing a hole in a piece of material Types of drilling devices Bit Brace or Brace A hand-held boring tool that consists of a pommel, crank and chuck. Usually used with auger bits or spoon bits, but sometimes adaptable to other devices. Cordless Drill A portable drill held and operated by hand that uses Having no cord, usually using batteries as a source of powe
