UMass Passhttps://umasspass.ugrydnetwork.com/ • The office is located on the ground floor of the McLean Campus Center • Your student identification card will • provide access to a variety of campus resources including athletic events and Fitness Center, and Library Resources • provide Residence Hall access if you live on campus • work like a debit card for on campus food and purchases (but you must add the money first!) • Can be used off campus for discounts in certain venues A Fee will be charged for a replacement card if you lose it.

Web Calendarhttp://www.umassd.edu/calendar/welcome.cfm • The Web Calendar can be accessed by a link located on the right hand side of the University’s Home page. • Select items are listed by date on the home page but the more comprehensive list can be viewed by the day, the week or the month. • Campus departments and organizations are encouraged to post event information to the web calendar.

  6. myAlert, Weather and Class Cancellations myAlert: http://www.umassd.edu/myalert/ myAlert is a notification system designed to immediately deliver emergency information to students, faculty, and staff via multiple methods including cell phone text and voice message. Public Safetyhttp://www.umassd.edu/publicsafety/welcome.cfm • The Department of Public Safety is located in the building located directly across from the entrance to Parking Lot 6. “The UMass Dartmouth Department of Public Safety provides a comprehensive program of police and public safety services to enhance the quality of life consistent with the values of the university community. As a dedicated partner in our community, we are committed to deliver these essential services with the utmost integrity and professionalism to ensure civility and the protection of life and property.” Public Safety is responsible for Community Policing, Crime Prevention and Safety, Campus Crime Report, coordinates the Emergency Guide and myALert. Emergency Call boxes are located around the campus and provide instant contact with the Campus Police dispatcher. The on campus emergency number is 9191, and the non emergency line is 8107 form any campus phone.

  8. Parking on Campushttp://www.umassd.edu/publicsafety/parking/regulations.cfm • The Parking Office is located on the ground floor of the McLean Campus Center. They will be open until 5:00 pm today and will have extended hours. • Information about parking decals and student parking lots, and the parking office hours can be found at: http://www.umassd.edu/publicsafety/parking/welcome.cfm • It is important to acquire your parking decal as soon as possible, and be sure you are aware of where you can and cannot park. Vehicles will be ticketed and/or towed depending on the individual situation

  9. On campus and local transportation Dart Van http://www.umassd.edu/publicsafety/dart/ The Department of Public Safety operates this service. There are marked kiosk in various spots around campus. The is service is available to all students. Please contact Public Safety if you need special accommodations. The Loop http://www.umassd.edu/cvpa/student/the_loop.cfm This bus runs between the Main Campus and the Star Store in downtown New Bedford. It is free to students with a valid UMass Pass. The Fall 2009 schedule will be posted soon. SRTA http://www.srtabus.com/ Southeastern Regional Transportation Authority is the agency responsible for public transportation for this region of Massachusetts. Route # 9 travels between New Bedford and Fall River and provides service to the UMass Dartmouth campus. Reduced fare bus passes will be sold at the UMass Pass office or the Parking Office in the near future. Buses to Boston and Providence Connections can be made at both the New Bedford and the Fall River bus stations for travel to Boston and Providence.

Computing and Information Serviceshttp://www.umassd.edu/cits/ • CITS is responsible for all computer based technology on campus and their home page has extensive information for new students. • It is recommended that you review the information and follow all the steps in order to begin to utilize the technology available. • Once you have completed the various new student steps it is recommended that you review all the relevant links listed at the lower half of the CITS home page.

COIN-Corsair On-line INformationhttp://www.umassd.edu/coin/ • COIN is a the web based interactive software that enables students to access self service modules such as course listings, course registration, class schedules, billing, and address change. • New Students are able to initial activate their coin account at: https://secure.umassd.edu/newstudents/ • Students need to activate their UMassD Logon in order to have access to COIN. • There is a student help desk and computer labs on the ground level of the Library. There are attendants at the help desk who are available to assist you.

University Campus Storehttp://www.umassd.edu/campusstore/welcome.cfm The University Campus Store is located on ground floor of the McLean Campus Center They will be open today until 4:00 pm if you wish to purchase your text books. They will have extended hours during the first week of school, will have regularly scheduled book returns (if you discover you purchased the wrong text) and will buy-back used books at the end of each semester. Be sure to be aware of the policies in order to take advantage of these opportunities. They also sell other items from snacks and stationary to University logo clothing and gift items.

Dining Services On Campushttp://www.umassdfood.com/ • There are a variety of venues on campus ranging from the Residents Dining Hall to “carts” serving food and beverages in the academic buildings. • Food can be purchased at all venues including the Residents Dining Hall. • Money can be placed on your UMass Pass account and will work on a debit system. Many faculty and staff utilize this options and find it convenient • Students who purchase meal plans can use their “snack” allowance at the various retail only sites. • The Dining Services are provided by Sodexho a contracted food service company. • They strive to meet the needs of individuals with special diets upon request. • The main offices for Dining Services are located in the ground floor of the Residents Dining

Athletics http://www.corsairathletics.com/ • The athletic facilities and fields are located on the far side of the campus from the entrance on Ring Road. • In addition to men and women’s varsity sports the Athletic department offers numerous intramurals sports, has a pool with open swim hours, and a staffed Fitness Center for use by the campus community. • You have free admission to varsity games when you use your UMass Pass

(ISSC) International Student & Scholar Centerhttp://www.umassd.edu/international_students/ • Located in Pine Dale Hall, the mission of ISSC is to serve international students and scholars with support and advice to help to make your stay here as productive, interesting, and rewarding as possible. • The Center provides general advice and assistance with campus life and personal needs. • Ongoing support with visas and other immigration forms is available as well as assistance with documentation that international students need while studying at the university. • The International Program Office is housed in ISSC http://www.umassd.edu/ipo/welcome.cfm This office provides information and support for students who wish to participate in Education Abroad either on faculty led or short term programs, semester or year long programs. The administration of the University’s exchange programs and academic support for incoming exchange students is provided by this office

Community Service and Civic Engagementhttp://www.umassd.edu/commserv/welcome.cfm • The Community Service and Civic Engagement Office is located on the ground floor of the LARTs building • The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth is committed to fostering an ethic of service on campus. • The community service / civic engagement program coordinates community service and service-learning opportunities for students, faculty and staff. The program develops training and resources for community service activities such as the annual community service fair and alternative spring break opportunities. • Student, faculty, staff and community members with ideas, projects and questions are encouraged to contact the Community Service / Civic Engagement program for assistance.

Student Affairshttp://www.umassd.edu/studentaffairs/rrc/welcome.cfm • The main Student Affairs Office is located on the second floor of the McLean Campus Center. • This suite houses a number of the administrators within Student Affairs as well as the Associate Dean of Students and the Office of Student Conduct and Dispute Resolution. • If you have an issue and are not sure where to go this is a good place to start • The following departments within Student Affairs provide direct services to students with a particular emphasis on life outside of the classroom.

Center for Access and Successhttp://www.umassd.edu/dss/ • Located on the ground floor of the LARTS building, “the Center works with faculty, staff, and students on campus to ensure that appropriate academic adjustments are made that allow all students an equity inside the classroom and around campus. • We strive to give students the tools to succeed, and to help parents, faculty, and others understand how The Center for Access & Success fits into the UMass Dartmouth community.”

Career Development Centerhttp://www.umassd.edu/crc/ • The Career Development Center is located on the ground floor of the LARTS Building • The CDC is a resource for all students offering career planning events and resources, resume review, off campus student job postings including but not limited to full and part time employment and internships, and on campus recruitment for prospective employer. • They also provide a number of eTools for student use on their web site.

  20. Counseling Centerhttp://www.umassd.edu/counseling/ The Counseling Center is located in the Main Auditorium Annex on the top floor. The first floor houses Undergraduate Admissions. There are specific walk in hours or you can call and make an appointment with a licensed staff person. There are also groups available. All meetings are confidential and in general most students find that they only need a few meetings with a staff person. Students with more long term situations may be referred off campus. There is a psychiatrist on staff who can meet to discuss medications.

FDUH-Fredrick Douglass Unity Househttp://www.umassd.edu/studentaffairs/fduh/welcome.cfm • FDUH is located on the ground floor of the Residents Dining Hall and has evening and weekend hours • “FDUH is a place to enjoy the company of friends, learn about other cultures, be exposed to different viewpoints, get rejuvenated, use the computer lab, watch television and movies, listen to guest speakers. • Here a student can study, enjoy music, play chess, relax, meet people, check out books, gain insights, foster personal development AND feel cared about. • Come see us for yourself! You will always be welcomed.”

  22. Health Services and Educationhttp://www.umassd.edu/studentaffairs/health/ • The Health Services Facility is located on the residence hall access road across from Pine Dale Hall, a student residence building. • This is the department that collect immunization and health forms. • They provide services within the posted hours and are staffed by nurses and nurse practitioners as well as a part time physician. • They coordinate the Student Health Insurance plan and with the Bursar billing and waivers. • By Massachusetts law any degree seeking student attending a school in the state must meet certain medical insurance requirements in order to be register. • Degree seeking international students are required by law to purchase the University’s student health insurance. • The campus Health Educator works within the Health Services Department and the Peer Health Educators.   23. Housing and Residential Lifehttp://www.umassd.edu/housing/ • Housing and Residential Life (OHRL) offices are located in Oak Glen Hall. This is one of the larger departments on campus and is responsible for promoting a residential community that supports the educational mission of the University. • Each Residence Hall is supervised by a professional staff person, the Resident Director and every floor or section of the facility has a student staff people, Assistant Resident Directors and/or Resident Assistants. • In addition the on campus facilities, OHRL provides a listing of available off campus rentals as a service to the campus community. http://www.umassd.edu/housing/offcampus/

Religious Resourceshttp://www.umassd.edu/studentaffairs/rrc/welcome.cfm • The Religious Resources Office is located on the second floor of the McLean Campus Center. • This is the office where you can seek information about the various belief systems who formally have representatives who spend time on the campus or request referrals to organizations in the community. • The non denominational Reflection Room is also located on the second floor of the Campus Center and is used by a number of the groups for various services.

  25. SAIL-Student Activities, Involvement and Leadershiphttp://www.umassd.edu/studentactivities/ The SAIL Offices are located on the second floor of the McLean Campus Center. This office works with the Campus Activities Board, Student Clubs and Organization, the TORCH, the student run newspaper, the yearbook committee and a variety of other groups and organizations. Questions regarding current or future student groups should be directed to this office.

Student Conduct and Dispute Resolutionhttp://www.umassd.edu/studentaffairs/judicialaffairs/welcome.cfm • Formerly known as Judicial Affairs, “the Office of Student Conduct and Dispute Resolution is responsible for overseeing the development, distribution and enforcement of University student conduct regulations, as well as publishing the Student Handbook. Women’s Resource Centerhttp://www.umassd.edu/wrc/ Located on the first floor of Pine Dale Hall, the Women’s Resource Center, one of the oldest in the US, will be spending the next year celebrating their 40th anniversary during the 09-10 academic year. All members of the campus community are encouraged to visit the Center, attend their programs and utilize their resources. The Center is considered a GLBT Safe Zone and provides advocacy for women’s issues and is a confidential resource for victims of sexual assault.
