  1. Welcome to the Y6 China Meeting

  2. General Information: • Hangzhou China – approximately 1 hour south of Shanghai • Date: Monday 1 – Friday 5 November • Dragon Air • Why: educational, cultural and social benefits

  3. 4 nights in Huajiashan Resort Hotel • Excellent location to access all excursions • Rooms of 2 with ensuite bathrooms • Block allocated to DBIS staff and students Accommodation: • Staff rooms located on each floor

  4. 10 staff (including the school nurse) • Groups of 9-10 • 3 buses with 3 groups on each Staffing • Local guide on each bus plus 3 staff members

  5. Total cost: • This includes: • -Coach travel to and from the airport • -Economy class return air ticket • -Accommodation in twin bedded room with bathroom • -All meals for the 5 days (except Monday lunch time) • -All travel around Hangzhou by private coach • -Insurance • -All entrance fees and guides • -Two bottles of water per day Costs

  6. The cost of the visa is not included in the price as this is variable • Your child will need a visa stamped into their passport. The only exceptions are: • Your child is indigenous Chinese with a Chinese passport • Your child hold a Hong Kong passport and a China travel pass which is valid through November • Your child holds a Japanese passport Visas **Make sure that your child’s passport is valid until May 2011. You may be refused a visa otherwise and will have to obtain a new passport.

  7. Breakfast and dinner will be buffet style at the hotel • Packed lunches and restaurants during the day • Please provide a packed lunch and snacks for day 1 • Snack provided upon arrival in China Food

  9. Plenty of warm clothes • Sensible footwear for hiking, cycling etc • Waterproof clothing • Nightwear • Small games (no electronics) Packing • Camera • PLEASE – NO MOBILE PHONES!

  10. Cycling helmets are provided for the cycle ride • Please let your child’s teacher know of any medical issues at the parent meetings next week • No valuables please • Pocket money: $150 - $200 is more than adequate Equipment Extras: • A detailed kit list will be sent nearer the time

As soon as possible: • -Check your child’s passport is valid and in date • -A photocopy of your child’s passport to their class teacher • -Deposit to the school office • -Organise your child’s visa • Next week: let your child’s teacher know about any medical issues at your parent teacher conference Dates to remember: • Friday 8th October: Total money for the trip
