Poppy. By : Evan. Main Characters. Poppy : Poppy is a deer mouse that is Mr. Ocax’s enemy. She is Lungwort’s daughter which is the leader of the Deer Mice family. Poppy is also Ragweed’s girlfriend.

  2. Main Characters • Poppy: Poppy is a deer mouse that is Mr. Ocax’s enemy. She is Lungwort’s daughter which is the leader of the Deer Mice family. Poppy is also Ragweed’s girlfriend. • Ragweed: Ragweed is a golden mouse that doesn’t believe in Mr. Ocax. He is also Poppy’s boyfriend. Ragweed is also very disrespectful to Lungwort and a lot of other people. • Mr. Ocax: Mr. Ocax is a Great Horned Owl. Mr. Ocax is the “leader” of Dimwood Forest. He thinks he is powerful and can do whatever he wants. Mr. Ocax tricks the Deer Mice family into thinking he is protecting them so he has an easier job of catching them and eating them.

  3. Main Characters • Lungwort:Lungwort is the leader of the Deer Mice family. He has a wife named Sweet Cicely. Poppy is Lungwort’s daughter. He thinks Mr. Ocax really protects them from “meat eating” porcupines. • Ereth: Ereth is an old porcupine that is grumpy. Even though Ereth is grumpy he is helpful and nice. Poppy discovers when she meets Ereth that he is a vegetarian. Ereth loves to eat salt.

  6. After Poppy escapes from Mr. Ocax two times Mr. Ocax is furious because no mouse has even escaped once before. The other part that made him furious was that he was not satisfied with his dinner either. When Poppy is almost home she sees a sign that means emergency meeting. They discuss that they need to move somewhere else due to food problems. After the meeting Poppy is chosen to go with Lungwort to ask permission to move to New House. When they get there Poppy is recognized by Mr.Ocax. Rising Action Mr.Ocax thinks he is the ruler of Dimwood Forest and the Deer Mice family. Ragweed thinks Lungwort, the leader of the Deer Mice family is telling a lie when Lungwort says Mr. Ocax will kill you if you don’t ask him permission to go somewhere. After that Poppy and Ragweed go to Bannock Hill not believing Lungwort. Then Mr. Ocax spots them and snatches Ragweed and kills him. Exposition

  7. Climax In the climax Poppy is at a barn and discovers Mr. Ocax is scared of a fake owl. She decides there is nothing to be scared of about Mr. Ocax. So they decide to have a talk and then Mr. Ocax turns on Poppy and tries to eat her. Poppy tries to escape many times but it doesn’t work, Mr. Ocax is to fast. Mr. Ocax tries to grab Poppy’s head with his claw but then she pulled out a quill and stuck it in his claw. Mr. Ocax took off flying. He was off balance because the quill in his foot was still attached and Poppy was hanging on it. He was trying to sling Poppy off when he crashed into a big block of salt head first. Mr. Ocax dies and Poppy wins the battle. After Mr. Ocax’s death Poppy is really surprised. She solved her deal with Ereth because when Mr. Ocax crashed into the salt it broke, so now Ereth can reach the salt that he loves. When Poppy gets back to Gray House she announces that Mr. Ocax is dead. Falling Action In the resolution Poppy and the Deer Mice family keep their freedom and ten years after Mr. Ocax dies Poppy is married and has kids. Resolution

Mr.Ocax and Ereth/ Conflict and Resolution • Mr.Ocax doesn’t like Ereth because he thinks he is going to ruin his chance of being leader of Dimwood Forest and because Ereth can beat him in battle. Ereth doesn’t like Mr.Ocax because he pretends that he is better than him even though he isn’t. • The resolution is that Poppy killed Mr.Ocax and Ereth didn’t have to worry about him anymore.

Poppy and Mr.Ocax/Conflict and Resolution • Mr.Ocax doesn’t like Poppy because he eats mice and Poppy escaped him which no mouse has done that before. • Poppy doesn’t like Mr.Ocax because he killed Ragweed and he told a lie to her family. Poppy doesn’t like them ruling her family because he is too strict. • The resolution is Poppy killing Mr.Ocax in a battle and she can spend the rest of her life peacefully.

  10. Ereth and the Salt Lick/Conflict and Resolution The conflict between Ereth and the salt lick is that Ereth can’t reach it since it is made for the deer. The resolution is when Mr.Ocax crashes into the salt lick it breaks and falls on the ground so Ereth can get it.

  11. My personal reflection on Poppy • My reflection on Poppy is that my sister is just like Poppy.Since I boss her around sometimes I could be considered Mr.Ocax. Eventually my sister will get me back like Poppy did to Mr.Ocax.

  12. Theme • Mr.Ocax should be less selfish and mean. Mr.Ocax is mean throughout the book. He is mean to Poppy, Ereth, Lungwort and a lot more. I think he should be less mean and selfish because that may be one of the reason’s Poppy didn’t like him or anybody else.
