  2. Poppy ventures off to New House to see why Mr. Ocax will not let them move there. On his journey he meets a porcupine named Erith. Plot Line The deer mice ran out of food at Grey House so they need to move to New House. They asked permission from Mr. Ocax but he says, “No.” Climax Mr. Ocax found Poppy at New House. Poppy found one of Erith’s quills on the ground so Poppy stabbed Mr. Ocax in the foot and he died. Mr. Ocax “protects” the mice from anything in the forest. He only lets the mice go to certain places. Poppy and Ragweed went to Bannok Hill without asking permission so Ragweed was eaten. Rising Action Falling Action The deer mice moved to New House. Exposition Resolution

  3. Main Characters and Descriptions • Poppy is a brave and curious deer mouse who will do anything to fix what she did wrong. • Ragweed was Poppy’s boyfriend who is a risk taker and a rude mouse. • Lungwortis the father of all of the deer mice who rules Grey House. • Mr. Ocax is a clever, but evil owl who says he protects the mice. Whenever they do something wrong he eats them. • Erith is a funny old porcupine who is a vegetarian and ruler of the forest.

  4. Theme in Poppy • One of the themes in Poppy is “don’t believe everything that you hear”. • Mr. Ocax said Porcupines love to eat mice. But when Poppy met Erith he said, “I am a vegetarian. I hate the taste of mice.”

  5. Conflicts and Resolutions Conflicts Resolutions The deer mice move to New House. It ended up that porcupines are vegetarians and are nice. Mr. Ocax hits the salt lick and dies. • The deer mice run out of food at Grey House. • There is a porcupine Poppy runs into to avoid the fox • Mr. Ocax keeps on lying to the mice

  6. What did I think about the book? I liked the book because it was well written and told a good story. I think if poppy ran into more stuff on his journey to New House it would have made the book even more interesting. I would recommend this book to Max Spence because he loves reading and I think this is his type of book.

  7. How Poppy Changed • In the beginning Poppy was shy, cautious and over protective of himself. • Later, he was adventurous and a risk taker. He would do whatever it took for his family.
