Molecular modeling of 2-chloro-5-nitrotoluene by quantum chemical calculation for pharmaceutical application

In this work, we reported a combined experimental and theoretical study on molecular structure and vibrational analysis of 2-chloro-5-nitrotoluene (2Cl5NT). The Fourier transform infrared and FT-Raman was recorded in the solid phase. The molecular geometry and vibrational frequencies of 2Cl5NT in the ground state have been calculated by using ab initio HF and density functional method (B3LYP) with 6-311 G(d,p) as basis set. Comparison of the observed fundamental vibrational frequencies of 2Cl5NT with calculated results by density functional methods indicates that B3LYP/6-311 G (d,p) is superior to other methods for molecular vibrational problems. The difference between the observed and scaled wavenumber values of most of the fundamentals is very small. The thermodynamic functions of the title compound was also performed at B3LYP/6-311 G(d,p) level of theory. A detailed interpretation of the infrared spectra of 2Cl5NT was also reported. The theoretical spectrograms for FTIR and FT-Raman spectra of the title molecule have been constructed. Time depended B3LYP (TD-B3LYP) calculations of electronic absorption spectrum were performed on the optimized structures at the same 6-31G (d,p) basis set for elaborate usage in pharmaceutical application.

The Ability of Raman Spectroscopy to Detect Surface Water Pollution in Northern Sudan

Water pollution is a complex problem for people in Sudan, especially in the northern state. Human activities such as Gold exploration, use of fertilizers in agriculture and industrial activities are, more or less directly, responsible for increasing pollution in running waters. This study aims to detecting the contaminants present in surface water in Northern Sudan. Five samples of water lines from different drinking water treatment plant were collected. the samples were analyzed by Horiba Lab RAM 3D Raman spectrometer. The results showed that the samples beside the water contain toxic and dangerous substances that may lead to dangerous diseases, in different quantities, such as cyanide, nitrate, Uranium oxide and phenol. Characterization of Artificial Sweeteners (Steviana) and Investigation of (Aspartame, Saccahrin and Sorbitol) using Rama

A selection of one common and commercially available table top artificial Sweetener in Sudanese Markets Steviana was considered. The study showed that , the compositions of the sample steviana contained sorbitol as a natural low potency sweetener, and it doesn't contain Aspartame , Saccharin as an artificial high potency sweeteners which they are chemical additives and have hazardous on health . Raman peaks of these compositions were compared with previous studies and analysis, which they were identical with the obtained results. The samples were examined in powder and solvent forms. These samples were irradiated using 6mW Nd YAG laser with 532 nm ModelHoribaLabRAM HR 3D at room temperature. These spectra provided free Raman fluorescence signatures in identifying the most significant peaks of these sweeteners. The results confirms and indicating excellent potentials of Raman spectroscopy for the assessment of Artificial sweeteners quality. A. M.
