  3. MODERN PHYSICS EINSTEIN PLANCK COMPTON Quantum theory states that physical quantities such as energy cannot be exchanged continuously but through 'packets' (quanta). This theory and subsequent studies conducted by Einstein on the photoelectric effect lead to the discovery of the corpuscular nature of light. Compton effect occurs when a photon hits an electron and some of the photon energy is transferred to the charged particle.The explanation of this effect provides a definitive confirmation of the concept of a photon as a quantum of energy. When a monochromatic beam of light strikes a metal surface it causes the emission of electrons from the metal. light is made of photons, which penetrate the metal and then transfer their energy to the electrons, if it's enough, those will emerged from the material.

  4. WHAT ABOUT MATTER? In 1924, De Broglie suggested that also matter had wave properties. He postulated that relationship: λ=hp in 1932, during his study on cosmic rays (gamma ray), Carl Anderson discovered positrons, particles identical to electrons but with opposite charge. Positrons are antiparticles, the main components of antimatter.
