  3. Analyzing Documents • Explain the question, theory or point of view in the documents • Classify the documents. Do they deal with Political, Economic, or Social Issues • Identity the source of the documents • Determine the validity and bias of the documents being analyzed • Connect the documents to each other

How to Use a Map as a Historical Document • Identify the subject of the map • Identify the historical context of the map • Explain the information about the subject included on the map • Connect the information on the map to the historical context of the subject • Compare the map with other maps
