  4. How is perpetual war no different than perpetual peace? • War creates scarcity of goods and food and allows the Party to keep inhabitants under control and dependent on the party. • The party is the “savior and protector” • The people will never rebel against the party.

  6. Why does the inner party alter the past? • This shows Big Brother to be infallible. • By erasing the past, there is no means to compare with the present, and therefore, we do not know if it is better or worse.
