cotton gin
Cotton Gin
  • During the winter of 1792 Whitney worked on his new invention the cotton gin
  • He decided to make this invention because, he studied how the slaves moved their while they cleaned the cotton
  • Cotton gin was used to create cotton in less than an hour
  • It took 10 days to create the Cotton Gin
  • The invention could separate the and the seeds 50 times faster than the slaves did
interchangeable parts
Interchangeable Parts
  • People stole the cotton gin so created another invention
  • He made 10,000 guns for the government since he heard that the government needed them
  • He made the guns by making a mold for each part
  • This method was faster then building it by hand
  • It was also less expensive
  • When he made the interchangeable parts he made sure that each part could fit into another gun if it needed that part
before
Before
  • Before the invention of the Cotton Gin slaves would have to make the cotton by hand which took a very long time also the results were good because the seeds stayed in the finished product
  • Before the inventing of interchangeable parts and the molds that made it quicker, the guns would be made in time that the government needed them
after
After

After the invention of the Cotton Gin was made it was a lot quicker to clean the cotton but it took a lot of people to grow and pick the cotton.

After the invention of the interchangeable parts and the molds the guns made sure that each part would fit into any of the other guns
