  5. Main Points • School Attendance Ranking for 2011-2012 • WCMS: 96.31% • WCES: 96.24% • NWMS: 95.94% • NWES: 95.59% • WCHS: 94.48% • WCES 3rd grade had highest attendance percentage: 97.04% • WCES 4th grade a close second with 97.02%

  6. Main Points Continued • September 18, 2011 was High Attendance Day across the state • WCMS had the highest attendance % of middle schools in the 5th region with 96.32% • WCHS had the highest attendance % of high schools in the 5th region with 96.65%

  7. Summary of Commander Academy for from August 2010-May 2011 • 49 students were in the program throughout the 2011-2012 school year. • 210 total credits were earned • Average credits earned per student: 4.28 • 23 students graduated from the program

  8. Commander Academy Goals for 2012-2013 • 21 students will start the school year in the Commander Academy. • Reduce the number of students that graduate from our program. • Ms. Abell and I have been proactive this year in identifying students earlier in the process that are behind on their credits.

  10. Dropout Number from 2006-2011 Commander Academy started in 2009-2010 school year. Ms. Abell and I identified 11 students with a high probability of dropping out if they had not been a part of the Commander Academy.

Dropout Facts for 2010-2011 •1.3 million students dropout from high school each year. •Approximately 2,000 high schools produce nearly half of the nation’s dropouts. • Over 1/3 of all dropouts are lost in the 9th grade. • Low attendance or a failing grade can identify future dropouts, and in some cases as early as the 6th grade.
