  2. Overview • Mother Board power unit • Central Processing Unit (Cpu) Bus • Rom • Ram • Hard Drive • Sound Card • Video Card • Disk Drives • Floppy drive • Monitor • Keyboard • Mouse • Case

  3. Motherboard • It is the main circuit board In the computer. • It embraces whole components of the computer. • If a computer had no motherboard it would not have a computer system so basically it would not work.

  4. Central processing unit (CPU) • It is called the brain or the engine of the computer. • It reads the instructions and it makes them happen. • It has three components. • They are called • arithmetic logic unit • Control unit • registers

  5. RAM • Temporary work place for the Cpu • Holds temporary instructions and data for the Cpu • Also the ram is volatile in nature meaning it will lose something when the power shuts off.

  6. ROM • The rom is non-volatile which means its contents are not lost if powered down, • Class of storage medium used in computers and other electronic devices. • data in the rom can’t be modified.

  7. Hard drives • Also called the HDD • The data that is in it is magnetic • Is a random access non-volatile magnetic data storage device • It features rigid patterns on a motor-driven spindle in a enclosed case

  8. Sound card • Is an is an internal computer expansion card • It does the input and output of audio to and from a computer under control of computer programs

  9. VIDEO CARD • It is an expansion card which produces output images to display. • They usually have more and different function with each different brand.

  10. Disk drives

  11. Floppy drive • It helps to read the data from the floopy disk • It was used to hold data • It is no longer used anymore cause of the advancement in technology

  12. Monitor • Displays information in a visual form using text and graphics to make it work properly • Its like a television screen • It can show still or moving pictures

  13. keyboard • Is a device to enter data and commands to a computer • It is one of the most important part of an computer • The user talk to the computer through the keyboard • The data that is in typed in the keyboard is put into an language that the cpu can understand

  14. mouse • It is a device used for computer input • It points and clicks on icons and menus • It uses your hand movement to control the mouse’s movement.

  15. Case • Is used to protect the inners of a computer • Helps them connect to the motherboard by putting them in one spot • Most common computer type is full tower

  16. Power unit • Is to convert power from the ac to the computer/ laptop battery • Lack of proper power will damage a computer • The fan uses the most power. It uses up to 12v.

  17. bus • A bus is a system that passes data up and down • It connects to the cpu • They now have self repairable buses
