  2. How to shift medical cover to personal policy  A person covered under a group mediclaim policy can transfer it to a personal plan with the same insurance company. The medical insurance india portability guidelines allow one to carry forward the credit gained in terms of waiting period for pre-existing conditions, on switching from one insurer to another or from one plan to another. Choosing a policy The insured needs to pick a policy best suited to his needs. The terms and conditions, coverage, etc, for personal policy. Form The insured is required to submit an application or a prescribed form for porting the policy to the insurance company.

  3. Documents to be submitted previous policies: The number of years of continuity will be subject to the policies submitted. Claim experience in detail. Proposal form. Age proof. Any positive declarations, such as discharge card, investigation reports, latest prescriptions and clinical condition. Submission time The application needs to be submitted with requisite documents at least 45 days prior to the renewal date of the existing policy.

  4. Premium payment On receiving the data, the insurer processes the proposal and informs the customer within 15 working days. If the insured agrees to the terms and conditions of the new insurer, premium should be paid. On receipt of premium, the policy is issued.
