  1. How to Add Bank or Credit Card Account in Xero

  2. Xero has been a useful tool, handling everything on one software making every process quite easy. Setting up a bank or credit card account in Xero is not that difficult. The user requires the Adviser or Standard role for adding a depository. • Either of the steps can be taken for adding a depository: • Go to Accounts option and then choose Bank Accounts. • Or go to Settings and then select General Settings. Choose Chart of Accounts. From the chart of accounts add a bank account. If you want to identify this depository later you can give it a unique code.

  3. b. Now, click on Add Bank Account. • c. You can type your financial institution's name: • A bank feed will be displayed for your depository, if your financial institution's name is available on the list. Carefully select the correct name, region and the type from the list. • Select Add it anyway option if your bank's name is not there in the list. You are required to import bank statements manually in your Xero Organization.

  4. d. In Xero, enter the name you want and use to identify this depository. This will appear on the dashboard as well as in reports. • e. This step is optional- Add a code in case if you are adding a new depository from the Chart of Accounts screen. • f. Select the type of your account: • Select your suitable type if you have chosen a bank with direct feeds available. Select Other option if your depository type isn't displayed (you cannot set a direct feed for this).

  5. Either select Credit Card or Other if you have entered the name manually. • g. Type your account number. Enter up to 20 digits if you are adding depository and last 4 digits in case of credit card account. • h. Click Save after adding it.
