The SAIL project evaluates teacher candidates' impact on student learning through a digital portfolio approach. This transition from traditional to multimedia ePortfolios facilitates the organization, ease of uploading content, and ongoing feedback. However, challenges arise, such as upload issues, formatting constraints, and technological limitations. Feedback from users indicates the need for improved training, organizational tools, and a more user-friendly interface to enhance the ePortfolio experience. Ultimately, embracing this technology represents a significant advancement in how educators present their qualifications.

Wiki ePortfolio Challenges Student Gale
Wiki eportfolio strengths? • The elimination of bulky materials that need to be presented • It is set up for you and you plug in the information • Organization and easy uploading for most things • It can be changed as you go or as the professor views it and makes suggestions. • Editing is painless • The comprehensive nature of the portfolio covers multiple aspects that reflect a new teacher candidate • Portable since I am not limited to one city for potential employment
Wiki ePortfolioWeaknesses • Trouble uploading so it can be time-consuming • Formatting • Not many options with fonts, formatting, etc. • When SNET is down - which was a lot this semester - made it frustrating to work on certain projects • I am not “wired” nor very skilled at using technology. I much prefer tangibles (handwriting drafts, face-to-face interactions) • I would prefer a different homepage layout, maybe something more colorful • It does not format well with Macs, which are great computers for deaf ed. purposes
Feedback for instructor/future students • Maybe put little dates next to each entry for reminders of when things are due. • Double check if work properly uploads • Definitely helps me to stay organized • If there is a way to use the portfolio without being subjected to the glitches of BB, that would be preferable • This is definitely the future and it is a great opportunity to do this as course work • This is the future of portfolios and resumes
Anything Else? • Found the technology awkward at first, but I enjoy it now • I think it is great to be on the cutting edge of the interview process!
Lessons Learned • Provide more training • Set firm deadlines • Suggestion for browser selection
