Campus Connection • Official Student Information System • Student use CC self-service to: • Register for classes; View grades; Order transcripts: Monitor degree progress; Check account balance and financial aid awards; update contact info; Check holds; Obtain enrollment verifications; See ‘to-do’ lists, etc. • Faculty use CC self-service to: • View class rosters; Enter mid-term and final grades; Access advisee info (contact, transcripts, academic advisement reports, photos, etc.) • Maintain personal contact information • BlackboardLearning Management System • Not official system for grade entry or roster updates

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (1974) • Protects student privacy, academic/financial records • Enrollment begins at point of registration • Directory information may be released • Annual notice online at www.ndsu.edu/registrar • Non-directory information may not be released without written consent of student • Coded in Campus Connection (blue star symbol) • Consent to Release v. Directory Suppression • Contact registrar with FERPA questions/concerns

Use SSN or Student ID to post grades Release sensitive info without student consent Leave sensitive info unprotected Leave graded papers in a stack for students to pick up Discard sensitive documents without proper destruction Circulate printed lists with student IDs or grades for attendance or verification Access student records for reasons not related to job responsibilities Release information to third parties outside department (refer requests to Registration and Records) Important FERPA Reminders- Do Not:

Academic Honesty & Integrity • NDSU Policy 335 addresses cheating, plagiarism and other types of academic dishonesty (instructional context) • NDSU Policy 326 addresses dishonesty in scholarly inquiry and research • When investigation is pending, a student may be blocked from dropping course – contact registrar • Report incidents of academic dishonesty • See ndsu.edu/academichonesty
