  9. 1-Decide what you want to write • Clinical Research • Medical Education • Reflections/Personal Stories • Poetry • Literature Reviews • Clinical Tips • Proceedings of conferences • WHAT INTERESTS YOU…..

  10. 2-REB everything • Get into the habit of getting ethics for what you are doing • Call ethics if you are uncertain • Get documentation from REB

  11. 3. Write the paper as you write the grant • Literature review • Need not be systematic • Methods • Discussion

  12. 4. Use an outline • For each project and for each paper • Decide prior to the start of the project about potential papers and identify leads and deadlines • Break the paper up into smaller and more manageable sections

  13. 5-Set realistic writing goals • Set realistic writing goals • Consider series of smaller papers

  15. 5-Protected Writing Time • Regular time each day for writing • You must try and do this regardless of whether you want to or not • Use time for literature review/reading/outline development • Share your plans with others • Track what you have accomplished
