  2. Parts of Plants • Roots • Flowers • Stem • Leaves More

  3. Roots Are usually subterranean organ of a plant used for the anchorage to the soil Back

  4. Flowers A reproductive organ of the seed bearing plants . Back

  5. Stem An aerial and upright part of the plant that usually bears the leaves, flowers, and fruits Back

  6. Leaves a flat broad structure responsible for the production of food, transpiration, and respiration Back

  7. How Plants Grow and Multiply and its part. • Changes in a germinating seed • Factors in Seed Germination and Growth • Seed and Fruit Dispersal Propagating Plants Asexually Click me

  8. HOW PLANTS GROW AND MULTIPLY Sexual Reproduction • Most plants grow from seeds • These plants have parts that are responsible in the making of seeds. • These seed-making parts of plants are found in the flowers.

  9. Stamen and Pistil • is the male reproductive organ. • Anther- ovoid structure at its tip • Pollen Grains- bear by anther • Filament-stalk of the flower Are parts of a flower that are responsible in the making of seeds in flowering plants

  10. Stamen • is the male reproductive organ. • Anther- ovoid structure at its tip • Pollen Grains- bear by anther • Filament-stalk of the flower

  11. Pistil • Stigma • Style • Ovary • Ovules • An egg cell is formed in the ovule. • The ovules, after fertilization, will develop into seeds and the ovary surrounding it becomes the fruits in most plants.

  13. What is the Role of Pollination? One important function of the flower is to produce seeds. but, how?

  14. If seeds are to be produced, the pollen grains from the anther must land on the stigma. What is pollination? • Is the first step in the process of development of seeds in plants. • Occurs mainly by wind and by animals such as insects and birds.

  15. Two types of Pollination Self-pollination • When pollen from a plant’s anther is transferred to that same plant’s stigma. Cross-pollination • When pollen from a plant’s anther is transferred to another plant’s stigma.

  16. Fertilization and development of the seed Fertilization – is the union of sperm cells and egg cells. • after fertilization the ovules gradually transform into mature seeds and the ovaries into fruits.
