    2. In the aftermath of the Great War, countries were struggling to re-establish themselves, both economically and politically. The Allies, tired of war, tried to rebuild a peaceful Europe; the Axis powers, still bitter with the Treaty of Versailles, tended towards fascist dictatorships. Although different in their goals, both the Axis and the Allies powers took advantage of new propaganda techniques to gain wider support. Introduction
