Background • DnA, the district’s new assessment data management system, is a comprehensive, multi-facetted program designed to enable teachers to develop, administer, score, and correlate teacher-driven formative assessment results without leaving their classroom. 041 DnA Implementation Update

  3. Breadth of Access • DnA’s reporting and keyboard-based data entry functionality is accessible from almost any computer within the district. • DnA’s scanning functionality is available from the majority of computer models in the district. 041 DnA Implementation Update

Implementation Assumptions • Jan / February • System tested; recommended by committee • March 1 • System approved by Board of Education • April – July • Critical Data Conversions • August 1 • First day of school • September 6 • First K-6 RL common assessments • September 12 • First day of K-6 common assessments • September 19 • First day of secondary common assessments • September 27 • First day of K-6 parent / teacher conferences (per district calendar) 041 DnA Implementation Update

Quarter 1 Top Tier Priorities • Push out Gradecam plug ins to all student and teacher computers (7,326) • Facilitate installation of Gradecam cameras (approximately 800) • Grade 2-6 teachers • Grade 7-12 ELA, Math, Science & Social-Science teachers • Set-up user accounts / permissions in consultation with LEA for non-teachers & non-administrators • Provide initial training for administrators / teachers / PPS / multilingual • 23 sessions in JAESC Mac Lab • 20 site-based sessions • 3 online sessions • Import Q1 prior year results for teacher practice / report familiarization • Load prior year / current year student demographic information • Load STAR / CAHSEE / CELDT results • Program Q1 K-6 report cards into system / quality control review • Create Q1 district common assessment answer sheets 041 DnA Implementation Update

Quarter 1 Top Tier Issues • Incompatibility between newer Gradecam plug in software and older Mac desktops • Resolved Sept. 16 • Insufficient processing speed on older Mac teacher desktops to handle Citrix & Scanning • New machines to be ordered for site where this issue was discovered • Technical Assistance to teachers • Ongoing joint shadowing by ARE / Technology Services staff now provided 041 DnA Implementation Update

Quarter 1 Top Tier Issues • Additional, ongoing training requests • Online training provided as needed • K-6 Report Cards • Initial availability date - available Sept. 8 for data entry; Sept. 22 for printing • Populating issues - resolved Sept. 25 • Data mapping issues - resolved Sept. 25 • Data Alignment issues – Sept. 25 for English and Spanish / In process for Hmong, Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Urdu • Comments issues - resolved Sept. 25 • Translation priorities - English and Spanish first, then other languages 041 DnA Implementation Update

Q1 and Q2 results into DnA • Incorporate nightly exports of assessments into eSchoolPLUS grade book • Create answer sheets for Q2 common assessments • Set up Music and PE assessment tools for Q2 • Design and program Q2 K-6 Report Cards • Develop requested data analysis protocols for new DnA reports • Load prior year student demographics • Import requested prior year common assessment results • Facilitate development of alternative assessments for exempted groups • Provide weekly scheduled online training sessions • Design and program assessment to incorporate Read 180 results into DnA • Align eSchoolPLUS / DnA scheduling practices 041 DnA Implementation Update
