  2. On August 16 -17, 2006 the AAQG RMC held an aerospace auditor workshop in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Workshop Purpose Enhance communication and provide information and guidance to a targeted audience of Certification Bodies (CB) aerospace auditors, contract aerospace auditors and CB trainers doing business in the Americas. The workshop included a guest panel discussion and topics such as aerospace surveillance audits, auditing contract review processes, documentation of nonconformance's/corrective action and a general topics forum that provided the latest information and status on ongoing AAQG RMC activities. The workshop was an excellent opportunity to network and discuss key topics that significantly impact the success of the Americas aerospace sector 9100 series certification process.

  3. Attendance: 111 persons attended the workshop. Target Audience: CRB Auditors, Contract Auditors, CRB Trainer Topics: Guest Panel Discussion IAQG/AAQG/RMC Overview (RMC 101) Surveillance Assessments Auditing Contract Review Documenting Nonconformances & Corrective Action General Topics Session (AS9101, OASIS, Re-assessments, Auditor Certification)

Workshop Organizers included AAQG Members, AB’s and CB’s: Tim Lee - Boeing Jay Park – Northrop Richard Vinton – Raytheon Larry Tustison – Rolls Royce Spencer Rodgers – Spirit Olga Ceriteli* – JPL Guy Johansen* – UTC Pete Kucan* – PRI Sidney Vianna* – DNV Fred Becker - TRC Lori Scheid – ANAB Becky Lemon - SAE (* Breakout Session Team Leaders) Upfront planning was key to the success of this workshop.

Keynote & Guest Panel • The workshop began with a keynote address by the ANAB Accreditation Manager Randy Dougherty. • The keynote speech was followed by a guest panel activity. • Each guest was provided a chance to speak and provide their observations, concerns and their organizations expectations relating to the aerospace certification process. • The Distinguished Guest Panel included: • Brian Hughitt – NASA, Manager of Quality Assurance • Debra Harrison – Defense Contract Management Agency, Deputy Director • James Howell - Missile Defense Agency, Assistant Director of Quality • Rick Downs – Cessna/Textron (IAQG OPMT Chairman) • Colin Clarke – Bombardier (AAQG Chairman)

  6. A general assembly session followed the quest panel discussion. General Assembly Session: Aerospace Certification (Lessons Learned) Topics : AAQG Structure Maintenance of IAQG Standards ANAB Heads-Up (Latest Releases) Training/Overview of RABQSA and Accredited Courses Completion of Assessment Checklists Assessment Scoring OASIS Enhancements and Issues Description: This was a general assembly open forum activity. The session included a variety topics and the focus was on lesson learned and providing the latest available information. Criteria: AS9101, 9110, 9120, AS9104, AS9014, Guide 62/Guidance on 62

  7. The remainder of the workshop focused on three breakout sessions: Breakout Session A: Aerospace Surveillance Audits This workshop topic focused on the required surveillance audit activities. Including the planning, assessment of required processes, selection of additional processes for conformance, emphasis areas (AAQG Member/Customer expectations) and the associated reporting expectations. Breakout Session B: Aerospace Audit Findings & Corrective Action This workshop topic focused on the documentation and classification of aerospace audit findings, the evaluation of a client response, including root cause analysis, and the acceptance/closure of corrective action. Breakout Session C: Assessment of Aerospace Contract Review Processes (Determination of Requirements Related to Product) This session focused on the auditing of an aerospace suppliers contract review process (AS9100 Section 7.2 and 7.4.2). Including topics such as; what constitutes a robust contract review process, auditing techniques, types of contracts/purchase orders, AAQG Member flow down requirements, change/configuration control and the records associated with contract review.   9. Summary The workshop was well planned and supported by all AAQG stakeholders. It was deemed a big success by all attendees. The guest panel exercise set the tone early: “Get Tough!” “No soft grading of findings” “Continue to Improve”
