  1. The Storm of War:A Lesson Plan Book by: Andrew Roberts Lesson plan by: Kevin Woloszynski

  2. The Book • The Storm of War is about World War II, it explains how Adolf Hitler’s political goals, and blunders by other Axis High command allowed the Axis forces to lose WWII. • The part of the book I would go over for my class would be pages 136-184, the chapter titled “Kicking in the door” • This chapter goes over how both Hitler’s and Stalin’s decisions as high commanders made hundreds of thousands die.

  3. Objectives of Lesson • Teach High School students about: • The Eastern front of World War II • How a countries leader’s wellness can effect the wellness of the whole world

  4. Materials Needed • As many copies of The Storm of War by Andrew Roberts as there are students in the class or copies of the chapter “Kicking in the Door”. • Poster board for groups of 2-3 for the entire class • Access to the internet and a printer

  5. Pre Reading Activities • A K-W-L Chart (What we know-what we Want to know-what we Learned) on the Eastern front in WWII • Going over the 6 dimensions of wellness

  6. Examples of Supplemental questions • These kids of questions I would give to the students to write a ½-1 page response to, asking them one from each category. • How can a countries leader’s wellness effect the rest of the world? • How did Hitler’s idea about “Living Space” impact the Russian people • These I would expect a ¼ - ½ page response: • What is “Lebensraum”? • What was the objective of Operation Barbarossa?

  7. After Reading Guided Discussion Multiple intelligences Assignment

  8. Guided Discussion • As the teacher I would ask students to come in prepared to answer questions based on Bloom’s Taxonomy. • Knowledge: when, and why was did invasion take place when it did? • Comprehension: Why was Stalin caught off guard? • Application: What can you learn from Stalin’s mistakes? • Analysis: How was the invasion of Russia similar to the invasion for France?

  9. Multiple intelligences Assignment • I will give an assignment out to the students that deals with multiple intelligences • I would split them into groups of 3-4 • I would make them choose 2 of the options, each option is for a particular intelligence.
