  2. Operating System • A system of programs that perform a variety of technical operations

  3. Word Processing • Software that allows user to create documents by enter, editing, formatting, and printing text • Ex. Microsoft Word

  4. Spreadsheet • Software that allows user to control and manipulate numbers. • Ex. Microsoft Excel

  5. Database • Software used to collect and store information in an organized form so it can be easily retrieved and manipulated

  6. Presentation • Software to create electronic visual aids for presentations • Ex. Microsoft PowerPoint

  7. Desktop Publishing • Software used to produce print publications • Ex. Microsoft Publishing

  8. Default Tab Stop • Preset tabs in Word set every half inch

  9. Ruler • Measurement across the top of screen. • Measures page layout. • Used for setting margins, tabs, and to find horizontal center

  10. Left Tab • Tab aligns text at left of tab

  11. Right Tab • Tab aligns text at right of tab

  12. Decimal Tab • Aligns numbers around tab in 1, 10, 100’s, etc. place

  13. Center Tab • Tab aligns at center of tab. • Text is centered on tab

  14. Leader • Small dots that connect text between tab stops
