NZ Science, Mathematics and Technology Teacher Fellowships • For teachers to gain new and up-to-date knowledge which will enhance teaching and learning. • To develop leadership capacity in early and mid career teachers. • To give teachers the opportunity to experience how science, mathematics and technology are used outside teaching.

  3. NZ Science, Mathematics and Technology Teacher Fellowships Promotes quality teaching practice Aids the retention of good teachers

  4. Endeavour Fellowships • NZ registered: primary, intermediate and secondary teachers, teaching science, mathematics, and /or technology • Time teaching in NZ: Minimum of five years (at Fellowship start) • Length of Fellowship: Six months (two terms) • Leadership training • Project and host: The applicant identifies their own project and host. Ideas from RSNZ website - Profiles of TFs • Education resource: May be produced as a way of sharing your learning • Applications close: 20 August 2012 for Terms 1 and 2 2013

  5. Endeavour - Major Changes from previous Fellowships More of a focus on the person than the project Development of Leadership capacity Expectation of enhancement of curriculum delivery Closer link between teaching area and project

Applying for an Endeavour Teacher Fellowship Read Fellowship Guidelines early Identify a possible project – ideas from TF Profiles on RSNZ website, universities, industry, etc Approach relevant organisation/s (Potential Host/s) with your proposal/idea Liaise with a Host to formulate your project proposal Gather supporting information for your project – who will benefit, and how etc Complete the application forms from the RSNZ website

  7. How are Teacher Fellows Selected? All applications are sent to independent panelists for ranking There are two separate assessments – the Applicant – the Project All aspects of the application are rated level of host support, project subject suitability, objectives, benefits to students, benefits to hosts, likelihood of remaining in the profession, contribution to teaching etc. Referees reports are scrutinized (verbal and written)
