Journey to Excellence is the new performance assessment, communication, and recognition program for Scouting units, beginning January 2011, recognizing achievements in advancement, retention, leadership, and more. Units can earn Bronze, Silver, or Gold levels based on point totals, driving successful, growing, and sustainable scouting programs. This program involves setting goals, tracking progress, and celebrating achievements to enhance the scouting experience for all members.

Journey to Excellence is the new performance assessment, communication and recognition program for Units Replaces Centennial Quality Unit Award – Starts Jan 2011 • RECOGNIZES: • Recognition items will include a ribbon, plaque, patches for uniforms, clip art for Unit web page • ASSESSES (by point totals): • Bronze (700+ pts) - Satisfactory • Silver (1000+ pts) - Excellent • Gold (1700+ pts) - Outstanding • MEASURES: • Advancement • Retention • Membership • Outdoor • Leadership • Service Projects • Training • Budget • Easy Steps toward Journey to Excellence (JTE): • Obtain a unit form from your Unit or Round Table Commissioner and study the process (now!) • Unit leaders meet and set action plan to meet unit JTE goals (January) • Unit Commissioners meet with unit leaders to discuss your goals • Leaders review progress throughout the year – each leaders meeting • Do a June 2011 review with your Unit Commissioner – see how you’re doing! • Bring your assessments to Recharter meetings next year • Give your unit the gift of successful, growing, and sustainable Scouting program – celebrate your achievement!
