Of course, non-renewable resources have always been exploited here, but our technologies, our practices and our environmental knowledge have undergone profound changes in a short time.

Industry professionals are encouraged by the remarkable advances we have made in operational practices over the past few decades. Here are six innovative ways the mining sector has adopted to foster a more environmentally and financially sustainable future. The mining sector is a relatively risky business activity where capital expenditure and approval of large new projects are limited*. However, with a strong business sense, financially and strategically, much more can be done with less. In addition to extracting non-renewable resources like minerals, mines also exploit large amounts of energy, water and soil resources. These significantly reduce their carbon footprint and make their operations more environmentally friendly.
