  1. Summary of Key Points

  2. Key Points • Stay focused on NWP and modeling systems • Stay focused on the main mission for DTC – being the testbed for NWP systems • The primary customers should be EMC/AFWA modelers and the WRF research modeling community • Facilitate research (enablers) – but, research is not a focus of DTC • Demonstrating impacts on operation as soon as possible (the sponsors have waited too long) • O2R does not necessarily mean that we have to make every aspects of operational systems available to the community. • It is more important to have functionally equivalent facility to allow meaningful testing that could potentially have an impact on operations.

  3. DTC Action Item • We appreciate all the comments from the SAB and we thank SAB for the hard work, and well thought-out recommendations. • We would like to have written report within two weeks if possible • DTC Management Board will provide written response to the SAB recommendations • DTC AOP 2011 will be modified to accommodate recommendations from SAB. • DTC management team will provide guidance to the Task Leads, and will also provide proposals to the MB on how DTC AOP can be structured in consideration of SAB recommendations.

  4. Schedule • 10/15 – SAB written recommendations • 11/1 – Revised DTC AOP in bullet forms for DTC MB review • 11/15 – Receives feedback from DTC MB • 11/30 – Written DTC AOP documents with budget allocations • Dec – review by DTC MB • Jan 2011 – review and approval by DTC EC
