Opportunities • USDA: • NRCS - EQIP Conservation Activity Plan • Ag Energy Management (headquarters) provided by TSPs • Contract payments based on state’s payment schedule • Rural Development – • REAP Grants for energy audits, renewable energy development assistance - Farmer pays at least 25% of the cost of an audit • REAP provides grants and loans to agricultural producers and rural small businesses to purchase and install renewable energy systems and make energy efficiency improvementsCompetitive up to 25% of total eligible project costs • REAP Loan provides $25 million or 75% of total eligible project costs, whichever is less SNEC SWCS Winter Meeting, February 18, 2010

Agricultural Energy Management - Component 2 - Option 1 - CertificationGroup Criteria • Agricultural Energy Management Plan - Headquarters • Energy Audit Certification:Hold an Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) certification as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license. • Acceptable headquarters energy audits developed by a TSP who qualifies under Option 1 (Certification) will also satisfy energy audit requirements under the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP). Agricultural Energy Management - Component 2 - Option 2 - Education & ExperienceGroup Criteria • Agricultural Energy Management Plan - Headquarters • Energy Audit Education: A four-year engineering or architectural degree, or a registered Professional Engineer (P.E.), or Registered Architect (R.A.) with at least three years experience in energy engineering or energy management. • Energy Audit Experience: At least three (3) years of experience with energy systems, and the completion of five (5) on-farm energy audits. • Energy Audit References: Two professional references needed verifying audit work. Overview of Farm Energy Audit Program (FEAP) • Farm Energy Audit Program (FEAP) – This is a national program that deals with energy efficiency at the dairy farm level • FEAP is one of 12 different programs, focused on the entire dairy industry – from farm to table SNEC SWCS Winter Meeting, February 18, 2010
