  2. Parking Lot… • You have sticky notes on your table. • Please use them to ask any questions that pop into your mind tonight. Stick them on the Parking lot and I will be sure to address them.

  3. Reminders… • Please note some of our work around the room! • There are index cards on your table, you can write your child a note! • Please REGISTER to Volunteer (more about that later) but the computers are ready for you! • Please fill out the School Improvement Plan Ballot for our school • Please visit the Specialists in the Multipurpose room! They are showcasing their programs for you. • Please find the PTA, as they are selling spirit wear and signing up volunteers.

  5. Interim Reports and Report Cards • Interim reports are scheduled to go home on the following dates: • August 29th • November 21st • February 27th • May 29th • Report cards are scheduled to go home on these dates: • September 26th • December 19th • March 27th • June 30th

Conferences • Your child will conduct a student-led conference during the first weeks of the second quarter. • I will also schedule conferences during the fourth quarter to talk about middle school. • Additional conferences will be scheduled as needed throughout the year by parent or teacher request. • All conferences will be held with the student present.

  7. EOG Testing Dates • Reading, Math, and Science EOG’s will be administered within the last 10 school days • NO RETESTING this year • NOTE: You should have already received last year’s scores

  8. Volunteers • Volunteers are needed to chaperone field trips and for organizing or assisting with classroom or school activities throughout the year. • Be sure that you are registered as a volunteer! • All continuing approved volunteers must reactivate as a volunteer. • All new volunteers must register and have an approved criminal record check prior to engaging in volunteer work. • The volunteer system will be open daily from 8:00-4:00 pm. • Then after October, it will only be open ON MONDAYS.

Field Trips • Durham Life and Science Museum --November 14th • PoeHealthCenter —December 10th • Marbles Museum and Imax Theater —February 20th • Somerset Place —March 13th (Chartered Bus trip—this is about 3 hours away) **More information on the website and Permission Slips and letters will be coming VERY SOON! ** **BE on the look out! **

Birthday Treats • Please email me 48 hours in advance regarding sending in a birthday treat. • One option instead of sending in sugary sweets would be to have your child bring in something like stickers for everyone or a book for the class. • The library has the new option of buying a book for the school—check the website for more information on that • All birthday treats must be store bought. We do have peanut and dairy allergies in the classroom! • Depending on the treat, birthday treats must be consumed during recess. • Birthday party invitations must be mailed and should not be distributed at school—Please fill out Student Directory and I will get that out to everyone when it is complete.

  14. Stocking the Treasure Box Below is a list of items that students like to see in the Treasure Box. Please help by donating any of the following items. (The Dollar Store and Oriental Trading are great places to shop!) • Decorative or Mechanical Pencils • Fancy Pens • Pencil Grips • Notepads • Erasers • Small Toys/Games • Etc.

School Wide Discipline Plan • We want all of our Mustangs to be “On TRACK” • Think Safe • Be Respectful • Own Your Actions • Show Self-Control • Show Kindness • When a whole class is “On TRACK”, myself or another teacher can give them an “On TRACK” ticket. • When the class gets a certain number of tickets, they will be rewarded with a certificate and recognized over the intercom. • The teacher may also provide additional rewards • Students can also earn their own INDIVIDUAL “On TRACK” tickets! The tickets they earn go into a drawing for a weekly prize.

Homework • Students will be given no more than 50 minutes of homework each night. • Students have an agenda to keep track of all homework assignments. • If a student fails to complete an assignment he/she will be required to complete the homework ASAP and will have a consequence here in class • A note or email will be sent home if homework completion is inconsistent or of poor quality. • All homework is due in class the next day unless otherwise noted in the student agenda.
