What’s New for 2014-15? • No Field testing =all schools have been assigned Form 1 • Examiner’s Manuals = directions to students to “stow away” materials not needed for testing have been changed to “put away” materials • Answer Books= several fields previously included on the demographic pages do not need to be hand-grid; these fields will be extracted from CALPADs Assessment Services

  4. CELDT Overview:The Purpose • Initial Assessment:to identify new students who are English learners and determine their level of English proficiency • Annual Assessment:to assess all English learners on their progress in acquiring the English language Assessment Services

  5. Initial Assessment • Administered to all newly enrolled (to the district) students in Grades K-12 with a language other than English indicated on their Home Language Survey • Must be administered within 30 calendar days of enrollment • To determine English proficiency for all new students • Administered throughout the year Assessment Services

  6. Annual Assessment • Administered to all continuing English learners in Grades K-12 • Administered September 2, 2014 through October 15, 2014 • To assess the progress of English learners on acquiring listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills • Used in determining Reclassification Assessment Services

Test Security Pages 37 & 39 in manual • Security Agreements- must be completed by test site coordinators • Security Affidavits- must be completed by site staff who will have access to the CELDT materials; return in BLUE envelope • All materials must be kept in a LOCKED, SECURE area before and after testing BLM Assessment Services

  21. Site Scoring & Data Entry • All portions of the CELDT must be scored by the site for Initial Assessment (I.A.) • Scores for I.A. must be entered into Zangle AFTERSeptember 12, 2014 Assessment Services

  22. Pre-Id Barcode Labels • Pre-ID barcode labels will be available for pick-up in early October (wait for email) • Pre-ID barcode labels will be provided for students enrolled BEFORE September 15th Assessment Services

  32. Checking Answer Books • All student-identifying information is complete and correct for each answer book • Field 9 is hand-grid (date test completed) • All stray pencil marks have been erased • Answers have been transcribed to clean answer book if original was damaged Assessment Services

Packing Materials for Return • Place the completed GIS on top of the used answer books; then place in the PLASTIC BAGGIE • Labeling the PLASTIC BAGGIE: • School name • Grade level • Number of answer books in baggie • For grade levels that require more than one baggie, number the baggies (i.e. “1 of 2”, “2 of 2”) Assessment Services

  40. Packing Materials for Return continued • Place all labeled baggies in original CELDT boxes • Place the completed S/GL for your site in theBLUEenvelope • Place any unused preprinted barcode labels in an envelope marked w/your site name Assessment Services

  44. Returning Materials AFTER Annual Assessment Window • Keep all unused test materials at your site for continuing initial identification of new students • Use the YELLOW envelope provided for the monthly return of I.A. materials to Annex 3 after October 17 Assessment Services
