  1. Central Adelaide Local Health Network ALLIED HEALTH REPORTING STRUCTURE EASTERN INPATIENT SERVICES

  2. Background Allied health staff within mental health inpatient services have operationally reported through the Nurse Unit Manger (NUM) of the unit Concerns with this current structure have been raised by the ANMF as this is not matched with the NUM role description Allied health discipline leads in the Mental Health Directorate (MHD) have professional oversight, but not operational oversight

  3. Current Structure No formal or agreed structure for Allied Health in inpatient services Current system is based on ad hoc structures that are not consistent across the network The current structure is not supported by the respective Enterprise Agreement (EA) for nursing and allied health professions Situation compounded in the RAH Mental Health Unit due to increase in allied health FTE and extension of services over 7 days

  4. Current Structure

  5. Proposed Structure AHP3 positions in Social Work, Psychology and Occupational Therapy AHP3 positions to provide day to day professional, administrative and operational oversite on the Eastern inpatient units for their respective disciplines Proposed structure is within current budget with only minimal impact on clinical functioning – through slight reduction in clinical time in Occupational Therapy and Psychology
