Suresh Raina Shares Team Dynamics in Greg Chappell’s Tenure Former India batsman Suresh Raina has recently launched his autobiography ‘Believe’ where he credited ex-coach Greg Chappell for helping the youngsters to develop in the team, and he also opened up on the relationship dynamics between seniors and juniors when he made his debut way back in 2000s. In the excerpt of which was published in mid-day, he revealed how Chappell played a huge role in bringing the players like MS Dhoni and Irfan Pathan to the team. Image source by twitter “The team that Dada (Sourav Ganguly) created has always been widely appreciated for making a mark in cricketing history," he writes.“However, the credit for so many of us youngsters making it into that team goes to Greg, since he was the one who prepared us to take that challenge.” He continued: “He and Kiran More Sir, as the chief selector, were the ones who supported this move. Greg is the number one talent-hunter. He always ensured that the youngsters got their due in the Indian team. And he played an enormous role in getting the likes of RP Singh, MS Dhoni, S Sreesanth, Murali Kartik and Irfan Pathan among others to play for India with a lot of success."

  2. However, the swashbuckling batsman has also shared that there was occasional ‘unrest’ between seniors but they would never ‘rag’ juniors as well. He also revealed that the team was like a family and like in every family, sometimes there were issues too within the dressing room during Greg’s term as the coach. Moreover, he added that, the youngsters used to not involve in such situations. And, whenever they would have their meetings, young players would go out for running or training as well. And, he also added that Greg was never wrong as he always wanted to make sure the Indian team was on its toes and never favoured any one player in the team as well.
