  2. Who are the P5 teachers? • Ms. Lisa Smith - P5Red • Ms. Meredith Robinson – P5Yellow • Ms. Sajinda Khan – P5Green • Ms. Linda – P5 Teaching Assistant The purpose of this meeting is to meet the teachers and give you an overall view of life in P5.

  3. Specialist Teaching • PE: Mr. Hayden Englefield(Mr. E) • Art: Ms. Lisa Quattlebaum • Music: Ms. Madeleine Du Toit • Our specialist teachers work in collaboration with us in each Unit of Inquiry

  4. Language Learning Department • Mother tongue • (German, French, Korean, Japanese and Putonghua and Beginner Putonghua) • Three 1-hour lessons every week • ESL - Ms. CharinaPaez • Full time P5 ESL support • In-class and small group pullout

  6. Activities Outside the Classroom (AOCs) • Organized by Mr. Hong Ly • Begins August 30 (6 week cycle) • Fridays at 2:15 on campus • Activities grouped using multiple intelligences

  7. Homework Grid • Recognizes the wide range of after school activities • Encourages positive family interactions • Gives the child choice to pursue their own learning using their preferred learning style

  8. Language • Encourage use of English, and mother tongue Language Components are broken into: • Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking, Viewing and Presenting • Variety of texts and genres

  9. Mathematics Math is broken into the following: • Number, Measurement, Data handling, Shape and Space, Pattern and Function • Problem Solving • Conceptual Understanding • Word Problems

  10. Math Word Problem • Carmen wants to ride the Ferris wheel, the roller coaster and the log ride. The Ferris wheel costs 5 tickets, the roller coaster costs 7 tickets and the log ride costs 1 ticket. Carmen has 5 tickets. How many more tickets should Carmen buy? • Carmen은 관람차, 롤러코스트 그리고 로그 라이더를 타고 싶어합니다. 그리고 관람차를 타기위해서는 5장의 티켓이 필요하고 롤러 코스트는 7장의 티켓 그리고 로그 라이더는 1장의 티켓이 필요합니다. 현재Carmen은 5장의 티켓을 가지고 있습니다. 그렇다면Carmen은 몇장의 티켓을 구매해야 원하는 모든 놀이기구를 탈 수 있을까요? • Carmen 想去玩摩天轮、过山车和激流冲浪。如果玩摩天轮要花5张票,玩过山车要花7张票,玩激流冲浪只要花1张票,现在Carmen 有5张票,请问他要玩这三种游戏的话,还要买多少张票呢?

  13. Canteen • Lunch choices are buffet, sandwich, pizza, or sushi • Ensure your child’s ID card has sufficient credit with a minimum of 300 RMB to cover the cost of lunch

  14. Field Trips/Activities • Field trips will be arranged throughout the year to support Units of Inquiry • Hong Kong Camp - October 21-25 -There will be a scheduled meeting closer to the date
