  4. Stars in your lives Well…lucky you! Your dream has come true! You have beaten thousands of other teenagers and won a massive competition. Your prize is a day with your chosen “star”

  5. Stars in your lives Your chosen star will be coming to spend the day with you in about a month’s time. They will arrive by private helicopter and land in your school grounds! They will come into your form room and “whisk” you off for the day

  6. Stars in your lives Aim You must work in your groups to plan the perfect day with your chosen “star”, based on you local area

  7. Stars in your lives Task Using the “likes and dislikes” resource, and your OS maps of the local area, start to think about… The route you might take from your school What you might show them / where you might visit along the way

  8. Stars in your lives Fieldwork In your groups you will be going out and walking your route. Along the way, you will be carrying out various fieldwork activities which will… Help you to practice your map skills Check that you’ve planned the best day out with your star

  9. Stars in your lives Along the way you must complete the following… • A route description • Field sketches and/or photos of key features • Grid references/symbols of key features

  10. Stars in your lives Follow up Well done for completing the fieldwork! You have now got a really good plan for the day.

  11. Stars in your lives Your chosen star is really looking forward to their day with you and has contacted you to ask for more information about what you’ve got planned for them! They’re pretty good at geography and have asked you to send them a base-map of the route you’re planning to take, and to add detail to it to show them what they’ll see / do along the way.
