  2. What Is AIDS? AIDS stands for acquired immune deficiency syndrome. This disease targets the immune system and causes it not to function correctly, so then your body cannot fight off diseases as well.
  3. Who Has AIDS? In the country of Congo 3.5% of the population (120,000) carry AIDS. South Africa(18.1%), Swaziland(26%) and Botswana(23%) are the countries that are most infected with AIDS. In Nigeria 3.6% of the population, that’s 2,600,000 people in the country are infected. 21% of the adults in Ethiopia suffer from AIDS. In Uganda 6.7% of its population have AIDS.

  5. Why Does AIDS Concern Us? AIDS is a global issue because it has reached the level of epidemic. That means AIDS is a global disease Hence, AIDS is in Ashland, Wisconsin. With more people who have AIDS it increases the chances of us getting AIDS ourselves.
  6. How Is AIDS Affecting The Africans? 2/3 of all the people infected with AIDS live in Sub- Saharan Africa. Since the start of the AIDS epidemic more than 15 million Africans have died. In 2007 1.5 million of those people died from AIDS.
  7. Involvement of Africans on AIDS Africans are trying to stay abstinent to prevent AIDS. They are causing the disease to spread through more continents when they travel. Also, they are trying to not use dirty needles in hospitals. Still many Africans are infected and dying.
  8. Involvement of Non-Native Africans Avert is an international AIDS prevention charity that is trying to help avoid the spread of AIDS. AIDS has spread so much, people on every continent have it. RED is a group that helps AIDS victims by selling items and take some of the profit of that item and donate it to AIDS victims.
