  3. How we express ourselves International Mindedness can provide insight into the beliefs and values of others. Where we are in place and time People and places have histories which can be uncovered through a variety of sources. Who we are Personal well being is dependent on a complex balance of inter-connected factors Sharing the Planet: Actions and decisions have consequences that affect the world. (EXHIBITION) How the world works Materials behave and interact in certain ways which determine how people use them. How we organise ourselves Economic activity relies on systems of production, exchange and the consumption of goods and services. Units of Inquiry

  4. Build understanding of the world – to give them clearer conceptual frameworks that help them make meaning. Help each child become an independent learner and to build their 21C capabilities as thinkers, collaborators, communicators, researchers and self managers. Subjects to be studied: English - Oral Language - Listening and Speaking, Visual Language -Viewing and Presenting, Written Language – Reading, Writing Focus: improving writing skills, comprehension Mathematics - Number, Data Handling, Measurement, Shape and Space, Pattern and Function Focus: improving basic facts, number sense Social Studies, PSE, Science, Visual Art - integrated when meaningful through inquiry units PE, Music, Chinese (Specialist Subjects) Curriculum and learning

  6. Meaningfully integrated within our classrooms to enhance and showcase student learning. Enhances: collaboration, creativity, communication Learning Technologies in Year 6

  7. Students will receive their homework every two weeks Subjects may include Mathematics, English, Inquiry, IT and Chinese Reading daily The grid will be on The Buzz and will be sent home as a hard copy in their homework books Chinese is given out separately on the Buzz Homework

Parent Information Evening – Beginning of T2, TBA Exhibition – Last week of term The exhibition “represents a significant event in the life of a PYP school and student, synthesizing the essential elements of the PYP and sharing them with the whole school community. As a culminating experience it is an opportunity for students to exhibit the attributes of the IB learner profile that have been developing throughout their engagement with the PYP.” The Exhibition

  10. The majority of communication from the class will come via email and diary. If you have not been receiving emails from us, please let us know. Update information on Gateway to access reports. If you need support, please email john.ainsworth@bs.esf.edu.hk Reporting of Language, Maths and UOI will be done at the end of each term, via Gateway Communication
