Bring out a strategy for effective implementation of development programs in a convergent & coordinated approach Transfer the knowledge from lab to land and demonstrate the achievements of the entire poverty alleviation programs and get hold of feedback for improvements in training, communication and overall implementation strategy, with the maturing of the intervention in the selected one block in a district.

  10. Punjab: PRI at a Glance • Constitutional mandate – PRIs to work for Economic Development & Social Justice • 12278 Villages, 12309 GPs, 141 PSs, 20 ZPs • 13 subjects of 7 departments transferred to PRIs as per 73th Amendment • Next Election due on May 2013.

WHAT IS BEING PLANNED • Provide safe drinking water • Providing Housing with sanitation and Electricity. • Developing and marketing human skills, surplus farm produce distribute earnings. • Translating the objectives of the all flagship programmes. • Awareness generation and orientation of Gram Sabhas for affirmative • Developing planning, organizing, audit and leadership ability among members of Gram Sabha. • Developing an action plan on land, water etc.

  12. Immediate Future Actions. • A meeting with all would be held to explain them the initiative in the month of November. • Information would be given at all important places to make the people know about it. • Meeting with all P.S members, G.P members and Block & G.P officials would be held to explain the Lab to Land programme. • Workshop would be arranged with youth club members of NYKs, Self Help Groups, officials of Line department etc. • Resource Persons would be selected by inviting applications fixing some criteria like educational qualification, experience and training etc. • The Resource Persons which are already on Panel have been trained. • Representatives from SIRD & State Govt. would meet the Gram Sabha members to get an idea what happens in the field and how much aware and empowered the people are at this movement. • Basic training of computer, MIS, PRIYASOFT to the officials of 131 Blocks including Khera Block in the month of Dec 2010 to March 2011

CHALLENGES • BDPO & officials are badly engaged in various others works and over burdened, shortage of staff in Blocks. • Hence they would not be able to take part fully in the exercise till June,2011 • The dates of meetings , selection of RP , trainings etc are to spaced very carefully ; it would take long time to proceed from one step to the next . • Huge fund is needed for not only IEC & Training but also for vehicle , video graphing etc . • 5. Khera Block have 84 Panchayats and it will take time to complete Lab to Land Programme.

  27. 1. Hon’ble Minister of Rural Development & Panchyats Punjab, Secretary RD & Ps, DC. Fatehgarh Sahib has been informed about Lab to Land Programme. 2.Formal letter has been written to them . 3.BDPO has been asked to fill up the data of real value of the key areas in the prescribed format .

  28. Selection Criteria : • 3. Nearer to SIRD for regular visit . • BDPO & Chairperson have a very good relation and both of • them are young , energetic and enthusiastic regarding the initiative • 5. J.E. is also very serious and intersted in the work • BPL % is 49 ; As it is a poorer Block this intervention is more needed there for more awareness and better implementation of Govt. Programmes .
