This study analyzes over 1300 wind energy developments and their effects on NWS radar operations. Wind Turbine Clutter (WTC) can lead to erroneous precipitation estimates and false alarm warnings, obscuring severe weather signatures. While there is no legal authority to prevent wind energy development, the wind energy industry has been cooperative. A 4 km "No Build Zone" has been established around the NWS radar centers.
