  1. FISH! “Creating an innovative and accountable environment where playful, attentive, and engaging attitude leads to more energy, enthusiasm, productivity, and creativity .” Division of Youth Services Northwest Region Mary Lewey, Training Technician

  2. “Are You Present?”

  3. FISH! The story behind the philosophy

  4. What FISH! is NOT: • A band-aid • A mandated action • A replacement for education, strategy, or experience • A magic pill

  5. 4 Principles • BE THERE • PLAY • CHOOSE YOUR ATTITUDE • MAKE THEIR DAY

  6. BE THERE The GLUE of humanity, give each other our undivided attention, focus on their needs, put away our agendas, listen from their perspective (look through their glasses)

  7. How? • When you are doing what you’re doing, who are you being? • How do you limit distractions?

  8. PLAY Work made fun gets done! Learning through interaction changes our state of mind, brings new energy and sparks creativity.

  9. HOW? • Would your staff like this? • Would you like this? • How do we create energy? • What are you already doing to create fun in your job? • How can you “PLAY” at your work site?

  10. CHOOSE YOUR ATTITUDE If we look for the worst, we will get it and be it. We are responsible for our perspective. Keep it, learn from it and shape it into new – MORE SATISIFYING! Choosing to be WORLD FAMOUS

  11. HOW? • What can we do for each other to help with choosing a positive attitude? • Who benefits from your attitude? • What is in your way of this choice? • What can you do to make your energy contagious?

  12. “There is always a choice about the way you live your life, even if there is not a choice about the obstacles in your life.”

  13. MAKE THEIR DAY Make their moment, turning routine encounters into special memories through small gestures, being kind, doing the unexpected, engaging in the moment. IT’S AN EXPERIENCE!

  14. HOW? • What makes your day? • How do you make a routine encounter special? • How did someone make your day?

  15. Final Thought • How will you implement at least one principle to help your team?
