Back Ground • The name ubiquitous computing was coined by Mark Weiser(Father of Ubiquitous Computing). • A technology trying to embed the PCs into everyday objects to make the PCs invisible. • Ubiquitous:Being or seeming to be everywhere at the same time(omnipresent). • Later this was renamed as pervasive computing. • Pervasive:Capability to spread throughought. • Meaning Spreading the computation power into everything around us.

  4. Characteristics of Pervasive computing • Use of ‘Smart Spaces’. Smart space: A space filled with intelligent computing infrastructure • Invisibility: Minimal User distraction. • Localized Scalability: Density of Interactions. • Masking Uneven conditioning: Dealing with differentenvironments.

  8. Conclusion • A futuristic technology which can change the feel and look of Distributed systems in the near future. • Lots of supporting technologies need to be developed.
