Prioritization of Tasks in WP5: Meeting Industry Needs & Efficient Cooperation

Prioritization of tasks in WP5 focuses on meeting industry demands and establishing a culture of efficient cooperation among WP members. Key elements include written standards, reference materials, qualified data, measurement techniques, and equipment manufacturing. Success relies on data policy and philosophy alignment. The philosophy emphasizes guiding customers to relevant databases and optimum measurement techniques, positioning partners as industrial collaborators and promoting EVITherM as a valuable advertising tool. Collaboration and database exploration post-kick-off in Leoben enable efficient task allocation and adjustment within WP5.

  1. Report WP5 Activities W. Hohenauer

  2. Prioritisation of tasks in WP5 • It is important to meet industry needs • It is important too to establish a culture of efficient cooperation of WP members • Therefore WP5 starts with basics as: • Written standards including a ranking concerning applicability. Basics exist at NPL anf FhG-IKTS. • Existing reference materials. Lots of data available at all WP-partners. • Qualified data of materials relevant for industry (Metals ceramics, glasses, carbon materials, synthetic materials, insulation materials). Data exists at IKE, FhG-IKTS. Other data sources will be found. • Measurement techniques (push rod dilatometry, thermomechanical analysis, subsecond techniques, …) • Manufacturer of equipment

  3. Prioritisation of tasks in WP5 Needs for a successful start up in WP5 are: • Agreed data policy • Agreed data philosophy Claus Cagran wrote a very ingenious sentence: • ”Depending on application customers should be guided to the relevant database. If no values are available customer will be guided to the optimum measuring technique and to the appropriate laboratory” • This philosophy ensures that partners of EVITherM feel themselves to be “industrial partners” of EVITherM. This makes EVITherM able to become a useful tool for advertising. • To be a “Non Profit Organisation” helps to establish this philosophy

  4. Review lists of databases Output of kick off in Leoben (13-03-2003) was:WP5 partners will not refer to well established literature as Touloukian or other data sources as web sites before data policy and legal boundaries in the citation of data are: defined & clarified / agreed.

  5. Besides • Review trade journals, trade organisations, professional institutes x-x-x • Any other business – as redistribution of man-day allocations There will be a need to shift some activities between WP5 partners or from WP5 partners to new contractors
