  2. Family Assistant Center • 14 centers located across the state with 20 employees • Problem solvers • Assistant families and Family Readiness Groups • Support all branches, including active component

  3. Family Readiness Specialist • MACOM commanders asset, but works for the Family Program Director • Provide guidance on family readiness issues and programs to the command • Five in the State • Jackson • Knoxville • Chattanooga

  4. Operation Military Kids • The U.S. Army Family & Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (FMWRC) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Cooperative State Research Education and Extension Service (CSREES) share a common mission of providing positive youth development programs • Youth aged 5–19 participate in a wide variety of 4-H programs led by youth development professionals and volunteers • The OMK initiative builds on the existing partnerships between 4-H, all branches of service and the established infrastructure of the State 4-H Military Liaisons.

  5. State Youth Coordinator • Contracted employee working for BPSI • Plans, coordinates and executes youth activities and development programs • Primary planner for youth camps and youth activities sponsored by the TNARNG

  6. Youth Camps • Three camps this year in Lavinia, Catoosa, and Smyrna • TYS unable to support this year • Over 250 participants in last years camp, Smyrna was the largest

  7. Military One Source • One stop shop • Provides services from making Thanksgiving dinner to counseling • Personal counseling • Financial counseling • Not much they cannot do

  8. State Volunteer Counsel • Consists of nine regional volunteers • Lead by the state volunteer coordinator • SVC is elected by the board for two years • Provide policy guidance and resolve issues

  9. Regional Volunteer Coordinators • Volunteer force to support family readiness groups • Each region has similar number of FRG’s • Appointed by the Family Program Director

Yellow Ribbon • Federally mandated law established through the ‘Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program Act of 2007.’ • Provides information, services, referral, and proactive outreach opportunities for service members, families, employers, and youth throughout the entire deployment cycle. • Reintegration events at the 30,60, and 90 day mark.

  12. Strong Bonds • Since 2004- 18 Strong Bonds events, over 750 participants, couples and singles. • Joint Program, open to Army and Air Guard (No Purple Money) • #1 deterrent to combat effectiveness is Poor Family Relationships. • Force Multiplier – marriage enrichment and family enrichment allows Soldier/Airmen to focus on their mission

  13. Summary • We are a combat multiplier to the commander • We do not assist or participate in CAO or NOK • We have programs for single soldiers, married soldiers and children
