  3. In this chapter you will study the long (stressed) forms. Notice the following chart. Possessive adjectives (long forms) Subject pronoun Singular Plural yo mío/a míos/as my, (of) mine tuyo/a tuyos/as your (fam.), (of) yours tú his, (of) his, its él ella suyo/a suyos/as hers, (of) hers, its Ud. your (form.) nuestro/a nuestros/as our, (of) ours nosotros/as vosotros/as vuestro/a vuestros/as your (fam. pl.), (of) yours) ellos their, (of) theirs suyo/a suyos/as their, (of) theirs ellas Uds. your (form. pl.), (of) yours)

  4. In contrast to the short forms, the long forms of possessive adjectives always follow the noun. Also, all are four-form adjectives and thus agree with the noun in both gender and number. La revista tuya está en la mesa. Voy a una cita con un amigo mío El carro nuestro es grande.

  5. Long-form possessive adjectives may be “clarified” in the third-person forms. For adjectives, the long form suyo/a(s) can be replaced by the construction de + noun/pronoun in order to clarify the identity of the possessor Ejemplo: Aquí está un collar suyoOR Aquí está un collar de ella Los lapices suyos OR Los lapices de ellos

  6. El verbo SER Remember that we use ser when talking about possession. Ejemplos: La chaqueta es mía ¿Es tuyo el agua de colonia? No, el agua de colonia es suyo
