  2. Should College athletes be paid? How would you feel if you were a college football player putting your body on the line every week. Do you think you deserve payment?

  3. Thesis Statement • I believe college athletes should not be paid for playing.

  4. There are over 13,000 college football players in the country while there is only about 1,000 in the NFL • Imagine paying all of those players salaries including the other national sports leagues and associations.

  5. Players should be able to b paid by endorsements. • This could motivate a lot of players to be better so they might be able to be on that next Nike or Adidas commercial.

  6. Others believe that the athletes risk being seriously injured. • Also some believe that the players are basically employees for their universities.

  7. This Counter Claim is incorrect because…. • College Athletes sign contracts just incase of serious injury. • Also playing for a university is a privilege not a job, you can even call it a extra curricular activity

  8. College athletes should not receive payment. Simply because of the fact that a university is offering to pay for their books and other necessities.

  9. College should not be about the athletes trying to receive paychecks. • The athletes should be mainly focusing on getting that higher education.
