Situated on the Brisbane River, adjacent to the City Botanic Gardens and Queensland’s Parliament House, the Gardens Point campus is the only university campus in Brisbane’s central business district. The inner city location reinforces QUT’s links with business and industry while creating a dynamic environment for students. Built Environment and Engineering • Courses feature student-run hands-on activities, such as QUT Motorsports, Engineers Without Borders, the Search and Rescue Uninhabited Aerial Vehicle (SRUAV) Outback Challenge, the Youth Aerospace Forum and industry-sponsored transportation projects. • The faculty has four research themes: design, infrastructure, medical engineering and smart systems. • QUT was the only Australian university appointed as a learning partner by Shell in a consortium (four universities) to support its global project academy.

Creative Industries • The Creative Industries Precinct is Australia’s first higher education • site dedicated to experimentation and commercial development in the • creative industries. • The Faculty is at the forefront of pioneering international research • initiatives in creative industries policy, applied creative industries • research, digital media design, and the creative and performing arts. • Research higher degree students play a vital role in shaping the research • and applications environment in the QUT Creative Industries Faculty, • which is home to over 250 degree higher degree research students • from 15 countries across Europe, the Americas, the Middle East • and Asia. • Ground-breaking research by the Creative Industries Faculty has been awarded the top rank of 5 in the 2010 Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) assessment.

  26. Once we confirm your acceptance, you will need to start preparing for your departure . We recommend you arrive in Brisbane one to Two weeks before Orientation to give you time to find accommodation and settle in to Brisbane. Make sure you attend the International Students’ Orientation program held the week before classes start.
