  5. Genesis 13:14-17 And the LORD said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: "Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are--northward,southward, eastward, and westward; for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever. And I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could be numbered. Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you." Did Abraham ever own this land that was promised to him? NO! Did Abraham live to see the numbers of his offspring become uncountable?

  6. Abraham’s Sons • Ishmael(borne by Hagar, Sarah’s maid) • Not the promised one • The father of the Arabs • Isaac(borne by Sarah when she was 90 years old) • Born 12 years after Ishmael • The Father of Esau (Edom) • The Father of Jacob (Whose name was changed to Israel)

  7. Isaac’s 2 Sons Esau Jacob Esau (H. hairy) the man who lost his inheritance because he was more interested in the now than the future. Jacob (H. the supplanter) was the younger brother of Esau. After an encounter with God he was transformed into Israel the Prince of God, and had the promises repeated to him.

  8. Jacob's favorite Israel’s 12 Sons Jacob had sons by different women His wives Leah and Rachel, and two handmaids LEAH Reuben Simeon Levi Judah Issachar Zebulan BILHAH Dan Naphtali ZILPAH Gad Asher RACHEL Joseph Benjamin The 12 Tribes of Israel

  10. Joseph Joseph’s brothers bowed down to Joseph, just as his dreams predicted His brothers threw him into a well before selling him to some passing Midianites, who sold him as a slave in Egypt. Jacob’s older brothers hated him because he was the most beloved of their father, and for the dreams he had (Gen. 37:1-11) Joseph became very powerful in Egypt, commanding all of Egypt after Pharaoh.

  11. Time of prosperity turns to disparity Joseph and his family enjoyed prosperity for a time in The land of Goshen, multiplying and growing strong in the fertile land But a time of sorrow was soon upon them Exodus 1:6-14

  12. A man called Moses Then he said, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob." At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God. The LORD said, "I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey.’ Exodus 3:6-8 God spoke to Moses through a burning bush

  17. From Abraham to Joshua

  18. King Solomon • Son of David • Extraordinarily wise and wealthy • Built the temple of God in Jerusalem • Wrote Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Song of Solomon.

  19. King Solomon’s success 1 Kings 4:20-21 'The people of Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand on the seashore; they ate, they drank and they were happy And Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the River to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt. These countries brought tribute and were Solomon's subjects all his life During Solomon's lifetime Judah and Israel, from Dan to Beersheba, lived in safety, each man under his own vine and fig-tree.

  20. Solomon’s Wisdom And Fame God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore. Solomon's wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the men of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt. He was wiser than any other man.'1 Kings 4:29-31

  22. Israel is God’s witness (1) Isaiah 43: 1,10 [NIV] But now, this is what the LORD says--he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel "You are my witnesses," declares the LORD, "and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me.

  23. Israel is God’s witness (2) Jeremiah 30: 10-11 [NIV] "'So do not fear, O Jacob my servant; do not be dismayed, O Israel,' declares the LORD. 'I will surely save you out of a distant place… I am with you and will save you,' declares the LORD. 'Though I completely destroy all the nations among which I scatter you, I will not completely destroy you. I will discipline you but only with justice; I will not let you go entirely unpunished.'

  24. Israel is God’s witness (3) Jeremiah 31: 35-36 [NIV] This is what the LORD says, he who appoints the sun to shine by day, who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar--the LORD Almighty is his name: "Only if these decrees vanish from my sight," declares the LORD, "will the descendants of Israel ever cease to be a nation before me."

  25. Why is Israel God’s witness? Romans 11: 28-29 [NIV] As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies on your account; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, for God's gifts (promises) and his call are irrevocable. It is not because the Jews are better than any other nation Rather, it is simply because of God’s promises to Abraham

  26. Why Is Israel God’s witness Isaiah 43: 8, 22-28 [NIV] Lead out those who have eyes but are blind, who have ears but are deaf. Yet you have not called upon me, O Israel … You have not brought me sheep for burnt offerings, nor honored me with your sacrifices. But you have burdened me with your sins and wearied me with your offenses. So I will disgrace the dignitaries of your temple, and I will consign Jacob to destruction and Israel to scorn. Isaiah 43: 1,10 [NIV] But now, this is what the LORD says--he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel "You are my witnesses," declares the LORD, "and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me. The Jews proved to be a very disobedient nation But God will never go back on his promises

Jesus foretold 예수님의 예언: 4) The Jews in control of Jerusalem once again would be a sign of his return이것은 예수님의 재림에 대한 명확한 표적 • And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, UNTILthe times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. 저희가 칼날에 죽임을 당하며 모든 이방에 사로잡혀 가겠고 예루살렘은이방인의 때가 차기까지이방인들에게 밟히리라

  39. And then shall they see the son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory 그때에 사람들이 인자가 구름을 타고 능력과 큰 영광으로 오는 것을 보리라 Luke 21:27

  40. Luke 21:29-31 “He told them this parable: "Look at the fig tree and all the trees. When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near. Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near.”

  41. The Fig Tree is a Symbol of Israel “He told them this parable: "Look at the fig tree and all the trees. When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near. Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near.” Israel began to “shoot forth” as a nation again in 1948 Therefore we can be confident that the return of Christ is close (exactly when we don’t know)

  42. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near. 이런 일이 되기를 시작하거든 일어나 머리를 들라 너희 구속이 가까왔느니라!' 하시더라 Luke 21 v 28
