  3. How wide spread is it? According to the 2008 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, marijuana the title of the most-used illicit drug in the nation. Psychotherapeutic drugs, with more than 6 million users, placed a distant second.

  4. Lung effects After you inhale marijuana smoke, its chemicals are stuck throughout the body. Smoking marijuana, even infrequently, can cause burning and stinging of the mouth and throat, and cause heavy coughing. Scientists have found that regular marijuana smokers can experience the same respiratory problems as tobacco smokers do.

Effects while driving Smoking or eating marijuana slows down your responses to sights and sounds, Marijuana makes you sleepy, distorts your sense of time and space, hurts your ability to adapt to light and dark. It also lowers your ability to handle a quick series of tasks while driving. These effects can last up to 24 hours after smoking marijuana.
